How Things Could Have Gone With No GamerGate?
I had a dream last night that could not have made me more glad that GamerGate exists. In the dream Social Justice had won. And what ended up happening as a result was the internet had been completely shut down, world wide. The gaming industry had also been wiped out. All the giants, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Capcom, EA, everything, bankrupt and gone. The comic and book industries were also gone. Toast. Marvel, DC, even goliaths like Archie went under within months. Total, catastrophic collapse of all of the big arts and creative media industries all over the word. Each week, there was news of SJWs destroying another big company and the industry around it crumbling. All that was left of our beloved hobbies was the indies. Small groups of those of us who truly love our craft and would willingly go through hell to share our love with others. The dream opened up with me trying to build one of these groups. Without the aid of the internet, it was getting really hard for indie groups to start forming. But that was the basis of the dream. Everything artistic was gone, and it was up to us to pull together to rebuild our hobbies. Comic groups were being created, game dev groups were forming, writers were getting a hold of typewriters and forming indie writing clans, amateur film, etc. It was like a post apocalyptic world, but with art and media, and we had to work to rebuild the world by rebuilding creative expression, and a new culture that would allow things to go back to how they used to be. Where people got to express what they wanted without fear of feminist CEOs and executives. Which was hard to do, because of the new authoritarian feminist government monitoring phone calls for incorrect language and wrongthink. It was kind of cool, an underground rebellion by creativity and artistic freedom, but it was also scary, because the world had gone to hell, and Islam had taken over, leaving only small societies of people willing to fight in our own way. I’ll say it again, I’m really glad for GamerGate.

This is horrifying and gross, because the list includes:
- Cranberry sauce and pie filling. (Poor people can forget about making dessert for Thanksgiving dinner.)
- Creamed vegetables
- Baked beans
- Pickles
- Pork and beans
- Frozen veggies that come in packages featuring pasta, nuts, rice, cheese, or meats
- French fries and hash browns
- Sharp cheddar cheese, Swiss, and fresh mozzarella, shredded and sliced cheeses (except American cheese of course), cheese food, spreads, and products. Even Kosher cheese is banned unless you apply to get a specific check for it which basically could identify who the poor Jewish people are. (This is really gross and skeevy because of how this is isolating Jewish people and outing them.)
- Canned peas and green beans
- Albacore tuna, red salmon, and fish fillets
- Bagels, pita bread, English muffins
- White rice and wild rice
- Taco shells
- Almond, rice, goat, and soy milk.
- Brown eggs and any eggs produced by cage-free or free range chickens, which basically helps corporate chicken farms
- Several kinds of infant food
- Anything in bulk
- Anything organic or natural

How do they think anyone is even capable of memorizing this arbitrary-ass list, much less enforce it? In addition to just shitting on poor people directly, it gives the state an excuse to harass businesses in poor community for not having the POS infrastructure to properly act on their ridiculous goddamn law. Also it’s cutting off a lot of cheap food sources? What fucking sense does it make to ban buying goddamn RICE with food stamps? You get a shitload of rice for very little money, add some beans (maybe bought in bulk… oh wait!) and you have a solid base for a lot of meals.
The republicans in Wisconsin passed this knowing that none of it is ever going to go into effect. Since food stamp benefits are funded by the federal government, states have to ask for a waiver if they want to restrict food purchases, and the government has never granted one of those to a state. The text of the bill outright says that the WI health department needs to get a waiver before any of this can go into effect:
2. If the department determines that it may not implement the requirements under par. (b) or the authorization under par. (c) without a federal waiver, the department shall, no later than one year after the effective date of this subdivision .... [LRB inserts date], request a waiver from the secretary of the federal department of agriculture and may not implement the requirements under par. (b) or the authorization under par. (c) unless the waiver is granted and in effect. If a waiver is requested and granted under this subdivision, the department shall implement the requirements under par. (b) and the authorization under par. (c) no later than the first day of the 25th month beginning after the date on which the waiver is granted.
The whole purpose of this bill is about the GOP showboating how much they hate poor people while also being able to complain that the federal government won’t let them starve poor people to death. Thankfully people should still be able to buy the food that they need.
