@ourrecoveryproject-blog / ourrecoveryproject-blog.tumblr.com

This blog is a place to vent about any of your problems you may have like: depression, suicidal thoughts, bullying, eating disorders, and anxiety, asking advice, or even needing a friend. (Also any others I haven’t mentioned) Don’t ever think you have to ask me if it’s okay to vent or seek advise, because my ask box is always open. My name is Josie, I’m 19, helping people with their problems is what I love to do. *Warning* I have to post depressing pictures to attract the people feeling that way to my blog, for if want to vent/get help. I love you guys, and I care about you all. Stay Strong!

i just feel so empty. my family has medical issue after medical issue-surgeries, a bad concussion, cancer-and it puts all the pressure on me. plus i'm diagnosed w a slew of mental health acronyms. it all piles up. it all piled up so much that i became really numb and so my boyfriend dumped me, saying i was too neglectful. sometimes it all piles up too much and i cant take it so i break. my heart is black hole. thank you for all you do for the tumblr community. not all heroes wear capes.

I'm so sorry for what's happening and how mental health is piling up. Please please talk to and be honest with whatever specialist you are seeing right now it is so important so they can help you.And if he left its not your fault. I'm not going to say he was a bad person, but he obviously wasn't emotionally or physically fully ready for a mature relationship and you are better without being with someone not ready to help and support you through this.I am no hero, at all. I just try to help people when I can, however I can. But sometimes it can take a while longer than I would hope. Thank you for waiting, I'm sorry the reply is so late.

6 months ago I started getting bad again and it's gotten to the point I don't want to live anymore and I'm self harming. I don't care about myself whatsoever and I'm finding it hard to believe people genuinely want me around/ care about me. I feel so lost and empty. I'm in my final year of schooling and Its all getting to much.. Getting professional help isn't an option either, my parents don't understand. I don't know what to do. I just want to die

I want you to understand that just because help isn't an option does not mean you can't get better. I have seen people go from your stage to not being suicidal anymore, I have even done it myself. The first step is asking yourself are you ready to fight to get better?I can be here and I can listen and give advise but if you really want my help you will have to want to get better. But I always reccomend getting help, even if its just talking to someone at school or on a confidential crisis line or online chat line.

how can I lose weight in a healthy way? I don't want to get an eating disorder I just want to get healthier.

Well to start most obvious is make sure you are having a normal intake of calories. 2000 is the average already but sometimes you have to cut it down to 1200-1400 temporarily. But you don’t have to read calories or if you do read them just do it for one-two weeks until you start to see the portion sizes and get the hang of things and stop counting them. (I don’t reccomend counting for a long period of time because that’s where it can go overboard.)

Also patience is key, don’t give up because you aren’t getting the results overnight. Weight loss takes time but it is worth it to being more healthy and happy.

You can eat junk, but in moderation. Don’t give up all your bad favourite foods, have something bad maybe once evey two weeks, and try to start cooking for yourself you can make your favourite foods so much more healthy instead of buying them in ready meals or going out fir dinner a lot…etc.

Here are 12 more tips I found on a website that may help you:

1. Don’t skip breakfastSkipping breakfast won't help you lose weight. You could miss out on essential nutrients and you may end up snacking more throughout the day because you feel hungry. Check out five healthy breakfasts.

2. Eat regular mealsEating at regular times during the day helps burn calories at a faster rate. It also reduces the temptation to snack on foods high in fat and sugar. Find out more about eating heathily.

3. Eat plenty of fruit and vegFruit and veg are low in calories and fat, and high in fibre – three essential ingredients for successful weight loss. They also contain plenty of vitamins and minerals. Read up ongetting your 5 A DAY.

4. Get more activeBeing active is key to losing weight and keeping it off. As well as providing numerous health benefits, exercise can help burn off the excess calories you can’t cut through diet alone. Find an activity you enjoy and are able to fit into your routine.

5. Drink plenty of waterPeople sometimes confuse thirst with hunger. You can end up consuming extra calories when a glass of water is really what you need.

6. Eat high-fibre foodsFoods containing lots of fibre can help keep you to feel full, which is perfect for losing weight. Fibre is only found in food from plants, such asfruit and veg, oats, wholegrain bread, brown rice and pasta, and beans, peas and lentils.

7. Read food labels (BE CAREFUL)Knowing how to read food labels can help you choose healthier options. Use the calorie information to work out how a particular food fits into your daily calorie allowance on the weight loss plan. Find out more about reading food labels.

8. Use a smaller plateUsing smaller plates can help you eat smaller portions. By using smaller plates and bowls, you may be able to gradually get used to eating smaller portions without going hungry. It takes about 20 minutes for the stomach to tell the brain it’s full, so eat slowly and stop eating before you feel full.

9. Don’t ban foodsDon’t ban any foods from your weight loss plan, especially the ones you like. Banning foods will only make you crave them more. There’s no reason you can’t enjoy the occasional treat as long as you stay within your daily calorie allowance.

10. Don’t stock junk foodTo avoid temptation, try to not stock junk food – such as chocolate, biscuits, crisps and sweet fizzy drinks – at home. Instead, opt for healthy snacks, such as fruit, unsalted rice cakes, oat cakes, unsalted or unsweetened popcorn, and fruit juice.

11. Cut down on alcoholA standard glass of wine can contain as many calories as a piece of chocolate. Over time, drinking too much can easily contribute to weight gain. Find out more about the calories in alcohol.

12. Plan your mealsTry to plan your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the week, making sure you stick to your calorie allowance. You may find it helpful to make a weekly shopping list.

I hope this helps,Josie.

I've been purging.I know is bad, but I can't help it. It feels like my body is being pulled to the toilet and making me purge. I can't help it, I've been getting bad. Last day my teacher found out about my purgings, she was understanding and more. At least that helped me not purge today, but I can't control it for so long. I want to cry but no tears come. I need to get this feeling of sadness out of my heart, but no words, no art, and no tears come.I can't do this anymore.I want to shut my mind.

You have no idea how much I understand, I too had this exact problem and I hit rock bottom with starving and bulimia tendancies before getting help. Even if you don't want to get professional help which I 100% reccomend, THE EARLIER THE BETTER! You need to try yoyr hardest be honest with someone close to you and around you so they can help make you as behaviour free as much as possible for you. It will be very hard but it's the best way to stay at home and also recover. Having professionals in the care also would make a huge difference because often the best help for eating disorder behaviour is to have talking therapies to understand why you do these things and help find stratigies for you that help stop/prevent them and medication to help prevent binge/purging (if you binge) and help with any coincided disorders like depression/anxiety that you might expirence along side. And finally I highly suggest you go to the GP for a general check up and I suggest you be honest and if not just still ask them to check your bloods, and vitals to insure you havent got any severe damage or electrolyte imbalances. I am here for you to talk, vent and give advise and I really do understand. I hope you do get the help you need. Come to.me whenever.

So I asked someone how I could improve how I look & they told me I need to get a lot of plastic surgery & basically change everything about myself! I was feeling bad about myself when I asked & now I feel like must be hideous or something! I haven't felt good about myself for quite awhile! 😰

Whoever said this is a horrible person and I am so sorry that that person said thism I can't see you but I bet you are beautiful and you are good enough, yoy do not need plastic surgery. People say things out of spite, jealousy, hatrid and just because they feel like they are so much more superior to others. Don't let them get to you as much as you can, I know its easier said then done but I assure you those things they said you need plastic surgery on are probably completely normal and not even flaws. To me you are beautiful, and worthy of being happy. That person is toxic and should be eliminated from yoyr life or friendship group or at least seen less if possible. People who put you down will only drag you down and its important to learn to let go in times like this because yes it might hurt at first but it will benift you extremely in the long run.
