You know what, just for fun I’m making it so when Vicky freaks out about Timmy going missing it’s a big enough freak out that she also ends up on the train. Her number is tied to how much of a bitch she is so for a while it just keeps going up and up, though it thankfully doesn’t manage to go past triple digits before she finally starts getting her shit together.

“You will become a better person and that is a threat.” XD

That tag is gold!!!

(skip to the first break (ie second paragraph) for the explanation) But a fic from Danny's point of view that starts out with canon Fenton parents - love their work, super passionate, but absolutely will permanently drop it all for their kids, stay up waiting for them to walk through the door at curfew, ect. And over the course of the story, as Danny is preoccupied with other things, we see him realize that, he hasn't had to make an excuse about coming home late or leaving the house to go fight ghosts recently. Basically: the Fenton parents, despite their safety practices, are still getting inundated with ectoplasm - and we know ectoplasm does not mix well with anything biological (source: ectoplasm acne infection spanning years - it's resistant and hard to get rid of, it's treated as a foreign entity by the body, we see Dani melting despite the human half stability, ect). The Fenton's don't have the luck to have it literally within their bodies, it's from the outside in exposure, not the other way. (Which, wouldn't that be interesting if the only way Danny and Vlad survived was because it was literally part of their bodies.). We see Danny shrug off the weird focus on only ghosts and ghost hunting as a streak of good luck - if they're focusing less on him, then they won't catch on to his ghost activities. Until.... One day Danny realizes he hasn't seen his parents exit the lab for meals in like a week. Which was... beyond weird. Danny decides to check on them. He starts going down the lab steps - he hears them working and his ghost sense isn't going off but he's getting chills. Clunk clunk clunk, his footsteps aren't exactly quiet but his parents don't seem to notice if the steady drone of voices and movement is anything to go off of. Danny suddenly remembers the days when at least one of his parents would crane their next around the wall to peer up the steps and ask after him. Palms clammy on the rail - was the basement always this cold? Danny steps down to the floor. Steps forward. His parents are - they're working but they aren't... Right. They're not ghosts, but they aren't really alive and human. Danny fumbles as his foot catches the bottom step from a reactive step back. On either side Jack and Maddie look up at him. "Ghost?" Eyes squint, narrow. "Ghost!" They roar and dash forward - Jack with a soldering iron and Maddie with a pencil. Danny turns and trips, running up the stairs, scrambling, reaching - Slam Click. Danny's pressed against the locked lab door. A tandem of thuds as Jack and Maddie hit the door. The door creaks and holds. Danny slides down, his cheeks feeling cold, and he swipes at his face. Tears streaked across his skin. Danny curls up, knees to chest, as he cries.

Or! Ecto-contamination makes Jack and Maddie more like zombies than anything alive or dead. The ectoplasm caused a reaction, an imbalance in the brain resulting in them becoming obsessive and one minded. Eventually a corruption of their human bodies makes them not fully alive and human but definitely not ghosts either - the closest could be described as zombies. Unlike stereotypical zombies obsessed with regaining their humanity (brains), the Fentons are obsessed with ghosts/ghost hunting.

Or! I think it would also be cool to see a fic with this premise where each chapter is another page from the Fenton's research and we slowly see their spiral from loving parents if misguided scientists to the clear obsession and finally into almost intelligible diagrams and short words, but mostly scribbles almost making letters. Last chapter is not a research page or entry but a pov from Danny or the GIW or another human describing the fate of the Fenton parents.

There's tons of "Danny's half ghost status corrupting or twisting Danny" ideas out there but what about the Fenton parents? Where access to a constant supply of pure ectoplasm is more devasting than they realized? If you know of any fics like this (specifically ones that start with good/canon Fenton parents) let me know! I think the suspense of something is going wrong to the horror reveal of they're not really human anymore would be fun to read. (Unfortunately I don't think I could pull off, what would have to be a long fic, to fully get the slow descent into madness right.)

BDSM gets a bad rep as like a violent (male) dom pushing the boundaries of a reluctant (female) sub but in my experience it's a lot of subs with wildly elaborate fantasies screaming shit like "PUT MY ASS IN THE CHILI" while a new dom is like "Okay I think, we are reaching yellow for me,"

Sub: Okay so before we begin how familiar are you with the ancien régime? It's not super important but it does help contextualize this. Essentially I'd like for you to be a ravenous, semi-cannibalistic Antoine Barnave-esque figure

Dom, holding a pen and notebook: Yeah okay

had a dream that I met a wizard and we fell in love and became unhealthily attached to each other so we decided to meld into one single creature together but the process was horrifically slow and painful and most of the dream was us lying in bed holding hands while lesions opened up in our skin and seeped out blue and green fluid and the wizard said "this is going to take a very very long time" and I said "that's ok"

the critics are raving

When doing historical fashion in movies and so on, I feel like you either need to go whole hog on accuracy, or embrace anachronism. Half-assing accuracy to try to fit modern beauty standards is just annoying. Anachronism can be fun when it’s intentional! But you’ve got to pick one of the other to commit to!

I especially love it when they've committed to intentional anachronism, but where the vibes are spot on. A Knight's Tale is the perfect example. Medieval peasants were not boogieing to We Will Rock You [citation needed] but the energy feels spot on.

3 seconds into dungeon meshi and they’re already living my dream. i love eating things I ought not in unfamiliar ecosystems

one time in undergrad we went to this big farm & greenhouse where they were cultivating rare & endangered plants and during the tour the botanist let us all taste a leaf off of a particular plant & I was like oh some of these are edible!

so we got to the next plant and when he took questions I asked if it was also edible and he said “I mean. It’s not poisonous, but I’m sure it won’t taste good.” I asked if I could try it anyway and it seemed like he was just perplexed enough to indulge me so he gave me one leaf. It was terrible.

At the next plant he offered me a leaf before I asked and he wanted to know what it tasted like

For the rest of the tour he gave me a leaf from each non-poisonous plant and I told him how they all tasted (mostly like nothing at all but some unspeakably terrible) and that’s how I ate several dozen rare & endangered leaves.

So anyway. I’m a fan of this blonde guy already. I think we’d be friends

Sleeping Beauty AU where the princess was born on a Leap Day, so when the evil fairy curses her to prick her finger “on her 16th birthday”, her family realizes that’s not the same thing as her 16th year of life and she’ll actually be in her 60′s when it happens.

By the time the Royal Counsellor has finished speaking the King looks slightly less like he might faint and the Queen actually looks a little hopeful.

“Are you certain?” she pressed.

“Absolutely,” the Counsellor assured her. “I had one of my clerks take notes during all the fairy’s speeches for the exact purpose of studying their phrasing.”

“What,” the King blinked. “Even the good ones?”

The counsellor sniffed. “Especially the good ones.”

“So…so we can truly argue that it is the birthday that counts and not the passing of the years?” asked the Queen, colour returning to her cheeks.

“Indeed!” the Counsellor said with a smile. “So if my math is correct your daughter will be sixty-four when the curse enters into effect.”

“That is hardly what I would call a long and prosperous life!” the King protested.

“Ah, but it does give her Royal Highness the Princess a lot more time to find this contractually necessary one true love,” his Counsellor explained. “Quite a reasonable amount of time I would say, if she happens to be of a romantic and monogamous persuasion, of course.”

The royal couple looked equal parts relieved and bewildered.

“But there’s no need to worry about that just yet,” the Counsellor said comfortingly. “And besides. Times are moving on. That is the entire reason we have the High Court of Magical Justice. Why, just last month a transformed prince was kissed back to human by his platonic life partner after successful litigation against the original layer of the curse! It is riveting caselaw.”

“…this is a good thing, yes?” the King ventured.

“Very good,” the Counsellor nodded.

“Well then!” Her Majesty the Queen beamed. “In that case, I say we continue the celebrations!”

“Quite right, Your Majesty, quite right,” the Counsellor said with a bow. “If you need me, I shall be in my study.”

It is a tenet of contract law that the meanings of contractual language are construed against its drafters. I think it makes perfect sense to interpret the language of curses against their casters as well.

just watched tangled for the umpeenth time and. disney where is my elaborate broadway adaptation

ohmygosh!!! don't know how i haven't seen this until now, i scroll through your blog all the time and you must've made that post the one day i didn't check it, lol. fingers crossed this comes to fruition/doesn't get stuck in development hell or axed after tryouts like Hunchback (and fingers crossed it's better than that tbh, imo it does the movie and score a disservice)

Alan Menken and Glenn Slater have been hinting at it for years, so I sincerely doubt it'll get stuck in development hell or axed. Tangled is so much more publicly popular than Hunchback, I'm willing to bet Disney throws the money at it to make sure it works.

After all, they've got the Fairytale Theater show at Disneyland and the cruise ship musical, so less-extravagant versions have already been great successes. I don't see why one with a bigger budget and longer runtime wouldn't!
