She shrugged a little. “Water would be great. Any food available? I just needed a rest more than anything.”

"Get a case of water, minimum. Don't know if a radio would do much good, but if you happen to have the cash for it, I wouldn't skimp." He directed her toward the booths with a menu. "Most've what we've got here is burgers and sandwiches. Nobodies around yet so if y' want somethin' else you can ask. Bathrooms are in the back. Got some maps in the rack by the door too."

There were probably worse things than being hand cuffed to a hospital bed, covered in claw marks from some asshole thing that liked mirrors, but Jesse can't quite think of them at the moment. He was staring at his hand like he was considering chewing it off and making an escape.

"Cross country drives are never fun." Especially when you were trying to avoid flying out internationally too quickly after a job that went just a little too close to the wire.

"I know that story," he replied. "Be careful drivin' through the Mojave if you haven't done it before. Not a lot out there and cell reception is a crap shoot." Most of his regulars kept a case of water in their trunks if they planned on going through. The road wasn't exactly highly maintained. Which was occasionally a blessing, if something needed dumping. "Get you anything?"
