     A nod, at the

suggestion, “Tonight works. I’m off work so we’d have time to work.” giving him a smile she zipped up her backpack, shaking her head lightly, “You don’t have to, studying together will help both of us, anyways.”

“Cool.” Menma pulled out his phone, handing it to her. “Why don’t you give me your number and I can hit you up around seven when I’m outta my last class.”

     “Yeah, I can understand

that. It’s really easy to get overwhelmed, isn’t it?” giving him a smile as she brushed her hair behind her ear, “I’m always happy to help out, if you need someone to study with.” she quite enjoyed spending time with Menma, studying with him was something Gaara certainly wouldn’t mind.

“Yeah. If you’re free tonight..” Menma placed the notebook in his backpack and swung it over his shoulder. “I could buy you some coffee as a thanks or whatever your into.”

     “My notes for Economics?”

Gaara gave a small nod as she fished her notebook out of her backpack, “Yeah– I can lend them to you. Did you miss class the other day?”

“Yeah. Something like that.” Menma smiled and flipped through her notes to scan them. He was actually doing really well in their class but he couldn’t think of any other reason to talk to her other than to play dumb a little. “I guess I just ended up with more on my plate than expected.”

Menma stammered for a moment and has to swallow a lump that was starting to form in his throat. “Don’t... don’t say something like that unless you really mean it.”

As she made her way through the crowd, Konan grimaced.  The dark-haired teenager walking alongside her had begun to pester her, but she refrained from acting, merely continuing on her course.  Trying to gently send the teen on his way, she feigned innocence.

“I have no kunai, senbon, or shruiken.  What threat do I pose?”

Menma’s nose twitched and he side eyed her hard and tried to get a better real on her. While she wasn’t lying about not having weapons on her, at least that he could tell there was still something off about her, she didn’t smell right.  “You don’t need weapons to be deadly. Taijutsu alone can put people down.” He stated, thinking of how he had yet to be able to beat Lee in a sparring match. “Plus,” Menma cut off for a moment to think of a better way to say this but couldn’t, “you’re weird.”

Konan hated the heat of Konohagakure, and her billowing black cloak did not help keep the heat of the crowd or sun away.  As she made her way through the crowd, expertly avoiding the people surrounding her, she noted a black-haired stranger looking at her.  She ignored the cloaked stranger, focusing only on reaching her goal; however, as she passed the stranger’s stall, she noticed him trying to keep stride with her, almost like he wanted to speak to her.  Despite her subtle attempt at evading the stranger, she could not pull ahead due to the oncoming crowd.  Her pace slowed, and she and the stranger fell into pace together.  She cocked her head to the side, as to hear the stranger’s voice over the din of the crowd, wondering how he had noticed her.  The stranger’s question puzzled her; she was not particularly trying to go unnoticed, she just was not making herself very well known.  As she and the stranger continued to walk towards the Hokage monument, she thought over the question, pondering a response.  Finally, she said “I am going unnoticed.  One person out of thousands does not concern me.”

“One wolf in a heard of sheep should give anyone cause.” Menma only glanced at the woman from the corner of his eye, facing forward to make sure that she didn’t have other spread in the crowd with herself. Walking into an ambush would really be the last thing he’d like to deal with as he was already on thin ice for all the bullshit stunts he was still pulling for his age. “Even so, if I’ve noticed you it means others have as well. If you don’t plan on being stalked by a group of jonin you should probably stop acting like you’re up to something.”

The market was a bustling and writhing mass of bodies that pushed passed each other. The summer sun burned down and threatened to char anyone that dared to keep out from under the traders over hang for too long. Having already sold out of his produce Menma shut up his stall for the day and braved the heat in his cloak, almost immediately regretting the choice. In the hoard of people he saw a few faces that he recognized but didn’t stop to chat at the risk of being in the heat longer than he would want. Sun shine always dulled his mind and made him think of nothing more than taking a long nap. With heavy laden eyes made his way through until something caught his eye. Normally he was the only one stupid being caught in this weather wearing more than necessary. Another, woman by the likes of her, cloak wearer was moving through the people without ever even bumping into a single one of them. Why the care? He wondered. Getting closer the walked beside her a few paces. “For someone trying to go unnoticed you’re wearing something quite suspicious, don’t you think?”
