a small gasp of surprise caught in her chest when he drew her close, and then all she could hear was the hammering of his heartbeat against her chest. did angels have hearts like humans? hearts that bleed and feel, and love in the way humans did? all her existence, minhee had merely been a messenger, the deliverance of salvation. all her existence had been to suffer, an endless cycle of sins and demons. zadkiel had promised her only the purest of hearts could be given that remarkable power.but she couldn’t help but feel it more as a curse. how could she be pure of heart when all the emotions of sin had lived in her and stirred her toward insanity? how could she be pure of heart when the closeness of another brought about an equal feeling of what she knew to be lust. was it the same? love? and lust? was this what made humans weak? because they couldn’t tell the difference?

in that moment, minhee realized she could no longer tell the different either. and maybe what she felt was love, so intense it took her breath away. to know how forbidden this was, to know what could happen to them if they allowed their deepest wants and deeds in. it would be the end of many things, and they would be disgraced. so how could she possible do that to him? make him promise her anything, promise to never leave her side? it was selfish. but that’s what she had become. zadkiel, god, whoever else had a say in her creation had been wrong about her. there was nothing pure about minhee. but it was their own fault for placing such a task into her hands. she’d fail them. but she wouldn’t fail micah—whatever that looked like, she wouldn’t fail him.
“even if it means losing the one thing that means everything to you?” brash, stupid words filled with human emotions fell from her lips as she looked up at him. warmth so comforting she couldn’t remember the last time she experienced such a feeling of home. surely his wings were more important than some silly attachment he’d developed for her? but as she thought this, she knew he was that for her.

“I’m not like you.” He murmured, his knuckles rising to skim over her jaw, a hint of a smile fluttering over his lips. “I’m not special. The battle won’t be lost if I cease toe exist.” He wasn’t trying to put himself down or gain any sort of pity from her. He was just a timeless being, well aware of his role in the universe. “There’s no need for you to look so guilty.” He’d brought this upon himself, allowed human emotion to seep in and take a hold of his every thought. To delude himself into thinking he had a right to such raw emotions.

His greatest sin was that he didn’t regret it. It didn’t matter how dirty and destructive this emotion was, he’d never felt more strongly about something, someone in his existence. It was for that reason why he understood that this love was doomed, for there was no way he could pluck one of gods brightest stars. Minhee deserved more than this, more than what Micah could give her.

“My words still stand, but I’m not asking for anything in return.” A part of him score that they could see the precipice of his affection in her eyes, but the sane part of him knew he had no right to her. “To give everything for you... I would never regret such a fate.”

”what’s the damn problem?” She asked angrily. Why nothing could go the easy way? The easy and pleasant way? Why both of them needed to be so stubborn? And to think that Krystal was rather the quiet and shy type. “I’m going to ask our boss to move me to the other section.” She finally said, giving up on everything. Maybe she was being guided by her emotions. But in the end, it would end up better for them both. At least they won’t need to see each other and for now, it seemed as the best idea for Krystal. Again he did surprise her indeed. After the kiss, Krystal was expecting another wave of yelling, hurtful words and the argument continuing. But he kissed her. The way he kissed was new to her. She could feel how much anger he’s putting in. And she couldn’t do that back. They would probably end up with blood all over their lips if both of them kiss like this. “Oh shut up.” She murmured and kissed him again. Putting her hand on his cheek, this time trying her best to do this softer than last time.

The anger was gone along with every other thought in his head. All he wanted to do was kiss her. Hands dragging her closer as he reciprocated every touch. He had never thought about kissing Krystal before. Never allowed himself to see her as a woman. Had that been a mistake?

“We shouldn’t--” He muttered, but there was no will there to stop what they were doing. No will to even finish his thought. Lips pressing to her’s once more, enjoying the way they took shape against each other. He would regret going along with this when it was over. He would regret it to his core, but now was not the time to linger on what had not yet transpired.

”Your mom is the best cook, don’t blame me.” She chuckled slowly rubbing her tummy. Like it would help with burning those calories or make her sleepy. “Okay, but in that new place on the way to school. I can’t go cheap when it’s you paying.” She teased amused, obviously not really meaning that. “Goodnight, oppa.” She said quietly and tried her best to fall asleep. And not so long after, she did. Lately, the stress from school was eating her inside and in the middle of the night it ended with another nightmare. At first it was soft, only wriggling and not being able to wake up. After like half an hour, Krystal woke up, panting heavily, sitting right away and grabbing her chest. Looking around, nothing seemed strange or dangerous but it still didn’t help with calming down.

Her sudden movements woke him up, confused as he opened his eyes to the darkness. Nothing seemed out of place until his vision cleared and he saw Krystal sitting up in bed. “Something wrong?” He wondered, rubbing at his eyes before he pushed himself into a sitting position, so that he could reach the bedside lamp.

The flash of light allowed him to see her face clearer, a frown marrying his expression in response. “Another dream?” Hadn’t she said they weren’t a big deal. “What was it this time?” He asked, hoping that if she talked about it she could relax and go back to sleep.
