Writing Flavor Text for Magic: the Gathering cards without Flavor Text

Have you ever considered doing flavor text for planeswalkers?

I don't do flavor text for Planeswalkers because they never have flavor text to begin with. I have however done flavor text for some Transform Walkers.

Theory on Ugin: he's from Dominaria of course but his particular brand of magic (and his dragon-ness) match Tarkir's energies Perfectly. Maybe Tarkir found him when he first visited and reacted to him, creating the Dragon Tempests. Or perhaps he considers it more of a home than Dominaria (I couldn't blame him)

I would assume Ugin made Tarkir his home, considering he would return there after imprisoning the Eldrazi and spending so much time on Zendikar.

I simply assume everyone has seen Justice League: Doom

So let’s talk about how Batman is more prepared to kill his only friends to stop them from abusing their power, but actual murderers and monsters get the Looney bin

That’s a fair interpretation, but consider this:

Batman is someone who absolutely abhors the notion of taking another life. Strip everything else away, and you have a hero who doesn’t want to see people die.

But he’s also a mortal man, so to be successful he has to do a lot of planning ahead. Even his failsafes have failsafes.

At the end of the day, when all else fails, the absolute last-resort final option for his enemies is to kill them. And for the Joker, Two-Face, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Riddler, and the vast majority of other villains he faces, that final solution is accomplished with as little as a single ordinary bullet.

The problem with the Justice League is that, other than Batman, a bullet isn’t anywhere close to a final, last-resort solution for any of them.

That’s why I think Batman puts so much more thought and preparation into failsafes for his friends. Not because he thinks his enemies are more worthy of redemption, but because he knows if one of his friends ever passes the point of no return, just one of them would be more dangerous than all his enemies put together.

They make it clear in the movie that his contingency plans for the JL are non lethal and they were modified to be lethal once stolen. And it makes more sense to have more plans for JL members when they are stronger than most regular murders and "Looney bins" OP.

Do you come up with the flavor text yourself, or do you take excerpts from story articles? I think its really cool if you make it yourself but it could be potentially interesting to use excerpts as some of the real flavor text does.

I come up with all of the flavor text myself but I'm influenced heavily by what's going on in the story as well as the design of the cards.
