This kid came over to me at the shopping center near where I live the other day, while I was Christmas shopping. And this girl came over to me, she was really nervous. And she was dressed, like, skinny jeans, rip in the knee, choker on, black hair; the whole ghost world, clueless thing, that’s what she was dressed like. She came over really nervous, and she said to me, ‘This is the second time I’ve met you here, we met about six months ago, and it was the day that I’d first got your album.’ And I remembered vividly, this little preppy girl coming over to me and expressing that she’d only just heard of my band that day. And the next time I went back to that spot, she was there, dressed like that. That really resonated within me. She was expressing herself more than she had done before she had heard our record, and it was so fucking cool.
