exactly 10 years ago, i was walking out of the movie theater after having just watched captain america: the winter soldier for the very first time. anyway if i could travel back in time to that moment to talk to my 14 year old self, this is what i'd tell her:

girl you are never going to believe what's going to happen to you over the course of the next decade. in an extremely roundabout way, the movie that you just watched is going to put you on a path whereby you eventually end up at the university of [redacted] getting a DOCTORATE in [redacted]. this will be a source of both sick pride and extreme mortification for as long as you live!
