Hey guys!

I haven’t gone through and fixed all the embedded links on the desktop version of this blog, but! I do have an update drive link here!

I think this will fix the issues people have been having, but please let know if it’s still not right.

Thank you all for still hanging out and being patient with me. I’m pretty amazed that this incredibly niche blog I made in 2012 still gets traffic. A testament to TMF, for sure!

Thanks,

The Incompetent Moderator

yo! There used to be a RPF of two skins actresses in the drive, years back. do you know what happened to it? if it's still available?

I know what you’re talking about, but I don’t know if I ever had a copy of it. There is also a chance that I lost it in the Dropbox to Drive migration as well. Unfortunately, I never got into Skins so it wasn’t really on my radar.

Anyone out there have a copy of this? I will happily put it into the drive.

I appreciate this blog a lot!!! I had a question since my memory of the time is getting fuzzy now. Was EC&FC originally posted on AO3, or was it posted somewhere else first? I'm mostly trying to figure out how long it took tumfs to write/post each segment.

Thanks!!!! I’m continually surprised by the amount of new followers it gets despite being a fanblog of a fic writer who left the fandom (and presumably fandom generally) 10 years ago!

As for your question…….it’s getting fuzzy for me as well, but I don’t think Ao3 was a thing when TMF started putting out ECFC? So it had to have originally been posted on FFN?

Can someone corroborate or speak to the contrary?

Hey! Just a lil PSA! Because of Google Drive’s security update, I have to manually approve or add people to documents in the drive.

I absolutely do not mind doing that! But I know I will (and probably already have) miss some requests.

So if you have requested access to something and I never responded, please either request it again if you can OR DM with the email you want me to share it to!

I'm so incredibly thankful that you've made this blog and collected all of TMF's works into a central resource for us to use. I know that must have taken a lot of time and effort, and you're amazing for doing it! I'll admit that I came waaay late to the TMF appreciation society, and I hadn't read any of her works until a few years ago. I only wish that she was still on social media to let them know how much we appreciate her! Like it's impossible to pick a favorite story that she wrote.

I also really, really wish that she had published Eights and Tens. I thought it was a fantastic story, and I would've loved to seen how the rest of the story played out. I never even know that I loved a body swap au until she wrote it.

Hi there! Thank you for sending these!

Of course, I can’t take all or even most of the credit for the collection I have. Everything I have was sent to me by another fan who had the foresight to archive and save these pieces of TMF. I just put them all in one place! And honestly, most days I do feel like I’m dropping the ball because I miss and lose messages or I don’t pay attention when links break. Hence the whole incompetent moderator thing.

But I am continually amazed at how this blog still gets traffic and new non-bot followers. It’s beyond cool to see TMF’s work rediscovered over and over. And when I get messages like this, even though I know it’s not likely, I really hope TMF knows the impact she had, and I hope that makes her feel good in some way.

And I really hope she’s like a NYT bestseller we all would recognize, but we’ll never know because she keeps her fandom past in the past.

In any case, thanks for the love!

hi! is there any surviving copy of living at the edge of the world? the links you've posted previously seem to be no longer working :( thank you for maintaining this blog!

Did you request access awhile back? I got a Google drive notification about that….but I wasn’t sure if it was spam or not.

I guess I’ll have to address some settings in the drive, and that will probably mean I’ll have to re-embed all of the links.

I will! Do this!

Unfortunately, I can’t do it right now (for reasons), but please send another message if this hasn’t been done by 10/17/2021

Also! I will make a post when I update all the links!

Hey all!

I know I’m terrible at being around here (mostly because Tumblr has stopped sending me emails when I get asks on this blog), but I wanted to take a minute to address some asks I’ve gotten regarding authors from different fandoms that “might be TMF”.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with speculating among friends if So and So from XYZ fandom is actually TMF with a new username, but I don’t really think it’s appropriate for me to publish/facilitate such discussion on this public (although decidedly niche) blog.

I have a couple reasons for this.

First, it’s a known fact that TMF was relatively polarizing within the Glee fandom. Even though that never made much sense to me, it’s still true. It’s also a known fact that people from her previous fandom, Skins, found her again solely to harass her during her active time with Glee. Given this and the fact that fandom is generally a much less forgiving place now than it was back then, in the event that anyone suspected to be TMF actual were her, I would hate to invite the same negativity and harassment that drove her from public fandom participation in the first place back into her life.

Second, TMF left fandom for several different reasons, but I think chiefly she did so to reclaim her life from a toxic dynamic/environment. She often talked about how frustrating it was to spend hours on fic edits away from her real life only to receive hate or complaints about her work in return. Something that was supposed to be fun became a source of stress and anxiety for her. So bearing that in mind, if she wants to anonymously dip her toes back into the fandom space, I feel that I should allow her to do that without enabling any additional scrutiny.

....which sounds like an overly serious response to some messages that I know were sent by excited TMF fans. Ughhhhhhh. Anyways! She may be out there, she may not be. Either way, I hope she’s having a good time!

I just found myself back in this world of skins. This stories are so transcendental. Some writers just have the ability to keep on sucking you back in even long after they are gone

I personally never got into Skins, but I have considered it multiple times (and here your ask has me considering it again) if only to expand my TMF experience, which just speaks to her talent, in my opinion.

I'm a big fan of TMF, and I re-read Assured of Certain Certainties all the time. I've been reading it again recently, and I noticed in the Author Note's at the beginning of one of the chapters that they said that they had written over 80 chapters at that point. I don't suppose any happens to have anymore of their work after Chapter 64? I would really love to know what TMF had in mind for the end of the story and the characters. It's just such an amazing story ❤️

Ooof just found this in the askbox. Tumblr never notified me!

So, I think, there may be some additional chapters in the Google drive, but I could be wrong. There’s a lot of stuff in the Google drive. Even so, I know things dry up somewhere in the 60s.

But also if you check the AoCC tag, you’ll find recollections of what TMF said about how she wanted to end the story.

Sorry for the delayed answer!

At least once every year I find myself rereading tmf's skins fics. I'm sad I didn't get to tell her myself bc I joined ao3 long after she had already left. Thank you for moderating this community and keeping her legacy alive in some way

You are so welcome!

I think that’s the thing about TMF - people come back to her fics over and over again. You are far from first person who has started a convo with me by saying, “At least once a year, I reread [whichever TMF fic].”

Not saying that other fics don’t get reread, but it’s just....different somehow. TMF’s work stays with people.

Eight (nine? Jeez, I dunno.) years ago when I started this blog, I was just trying to show appreciation for TMF because I wanted her to know that some group of people really valued all the work she did. Now, it’s grown beyond her, and it’s more about us having a place to be, and having a place for new readers to find. Every time I get a new follower notification, it warms my heart a little bit because it means her work is still causing people to search for more, to ask questions, and to wonder where she is now.

I don’t really have a lot of answers anymore, but I’m very happy that I created this place for people to land.

Oh! I didnt realize this blog was still active until I saw an ask on my dash! Woah it's been almost a decade :O I did have a question. Do you remember how popular the author and her fics were back then? I joined late and i think i saw an archived copy of AOCC when it had around 55 chapters on ao3 with like 25k hits but I think she posted on ffn too.

Well! It’s active in the sense that I, the moderator, am still alive and do try to check this askbox frequently lol. But yeah, people still love TMFs work, so I think as long as that is true, people will find this blog.

I kinda came to TMF maybe 8 months to a year before she deleted, and by that time (since the Glee fandom was insane) she was more infamous than....straight up popular. She got a lot of hate for writing less “fanon friendly” stuff, and this was around the time when the Tumblr version of purity culture was starting to take shape, so she had a pretty vocal group of people opposed her because of some Skins fic to begin with. Looking back on it now, it must have sucked so much. The older I get, the more I understand why she left.

But yeah her fics always had wild engagement stats. Her fics still take up a lot of spots on the first two pages of the F/F Glee page on Ao3 if you sort by kudos....and like you said, it’s been almost a decade.

She did used to have them posted on FFN, but Ao3 started getting popular right when she started thinking about disappearing, so she moved her fics off of FFN and onto Ao3 because of all the reasons why Ao3 is a superior archive.

Hi. This is random and im not sure if anyone still checks these. But do you remember the summary for AOCC? Or does anyone? I just remember the Finn/Rachel, Quinn/Rachel (in Finn’s body), and eventual Finn/Sam (in Quinn’s body).

Hey! So you can read AAoC up to chapter 64 through the link to on the Works page (easily accessible through desktop Tumblr), and any kind of summary beyond that point can be found on posts tagged as AoCC.

I hope that helps!

I cannot believe how long it has been (2012?) and I still think about TMFs fics. It is 2020 and I still find myself thinking of the open unfinished possibilities and on one hand I can make up my own ending in my head but on another hand I really wish I could have seen the planned ending. I saw that post that analyzed the morality of it and freaked out in my head for a few minutes bc i had never thought abt certain aspects of the story like that (sexual assault)

I know I took a few days to answer this, but I am always pleasantly surprised when I get an email that I have something my ask box. It happens more than I would think it would almost a decade post-TMF. I know that she’s probably not anywhere near this blue hellscape, but...if she is? I hope she sees that her stories had a kind of impact that no other contemporary fic has. I hope she sees that for what it is: affirmation that she is a skilled and talented storyteller with an incredibly valued voice.

Reading TMF's works again helped me feel less sad about Naya. Nobody wrote Santana better than her.

It’s true. TMF got Santana like no one else in fandom. She always felt so real.

I’m glad - and I’m sure she would be too - that her works are helping you through this!

do you guys believe in the conspiracy theory that lynnearlington might be tmf?

This is the first I’ve heard of this theory, but given the little I’ve read of Lynnearlington’s work, the fact I know someone who was once very close to Lynne....I just doubt this very much.

That said, I love conspiracy theories, so what do the tacs and strings look like on this one?

I'm like SEVEN YEARS late getting to TMF's work but... wow. It's been a few months since I discovered it, since I like to take my time while reading and I was on AO3 where I found this blog referenced in a comment and then... found out there was even more content to be found! I just finished AoCC after a solid month or more of reading an average of a couple chapters per day, and I went into it fully knowing it was incomplete but... argh!! TMF did some amazing work, thanks for the archives!

Hey bud, better late than never!! Especially when it comes to TMF!

I’m glad you found the archive and got to experience AoCC!

Hello idk if anybody is still regulating this blog cause the last post was a year ago. I’ve read TMF’s fic when she still had them on FF before but never read the popular These Strange Steps. I finally got to read These Strange Steps in ao3 and I read that its a rewrite of a previous one that didn’t have a happy ending? I think I saw it years ago but wasn’t really particularly fond of reading about drugs and bdsm back then. Can you tell me more about the previous story before the rewrite?

Avatar

I FEEL TERRIBLE FOR JUST NOW SEEING THIS, but yeah, I’m still here.

You know, I’m not the best person to ask because I got into TMF and TSS during the rewrite.

@chiltongirlsdoitbetter do you remember? Do any of the remaining followers remember?
