The lens of the eye hangs suspended in the middle of the eye structure. Normally we don't see it. This dog's lens has not only formed a cataract, it has luxated and prolapsed through the pupil of the iris. the next picture shows this same eye and the other eye which has a mature cataract in the lens, but the lens is in the proper anatomical position.

Okay so this isn't me, but it is exactly how I feel this morning. I was ready to get up, but at the same time still so sleepy. I guess the soul satisfying rain just made me relax just a little too much.
Part of our family-gone
It has been said that our pets are not our whole lives but they make our lives whole. No truer words felt as we lost our Boston Terrier, Oreo, this weekend. We will miss you so much-our hearts are heavy but our memories of you are oh so sweet.
No home for the kitty
So far, no homes have been found for the kittens. It is so hard to place pets into good homes these day. Honestly, most people I know have so many dogs, cats and other pets that it is just not realistic to try and take care of another one. Me included. It's interesting that on the one hand, the increased quality of veterinary care has given our pets longer lives, and on the other hand, the costs of keeping and taking care of our pets keeps rising. I know that many of you reading this post are in the exact position I have described here. I also know that you care, and because you do, please keep searching for a great home for these kittens.
Now, I've been thinking a lot about milk thistle lately........
Bottle fed kittens now need homes. These kittens were found at a local motel with their umbilical cords still attached. Instead of putting them to sleep, two vet techs at the Lytle Veterinary Clinic in Lytle, Texas bottle fed them and they survived in spite of the incredible odds stacked against them. They are now ready for their forever home. If you can help, please call for them at 830-772-3674.

Most popular name for dogs is....
Bella, for 2 years in a row, the most popular name for a dog in the US is Bella. Seems as if Hollywood or at least famous people have a big influence on what we come up with as appropriate names for our pets. Other celebrity inspired names? How about 2 cats named Ozzie Pawsbourne and Cat Deeley.
