Bow Tie
It’s almost summer! Which means there are a lot of special events going on like graduation and weddings. Not to mention Father’s Day (and my dad’s birthday) is right around the corner!! To tackle all the crazy events that require us to dress up, I made a bow tie pattern!
1) ch 12. Starting in the second ch from the hook, 1sc in each st (11)
Rows 2-19) 1sc in each st (11). ch 1 to turn (except for row 20)
Row 20) Sc around the whole edge of the bow. Fasten off and weave in the ends
1) ch 5. Starting in the third ch from the hook, 1dc in each st (3)
Rows 2-40) 1dc in each st (3)
You might need to make more or less rows depending on the collar size. Make your collar a little bit bigger (2.5cm or 1inch) which leaves room for the button.
Sew a cinch on your bow so the shape holds in place.
I wrapped my yarn straight across the bow to hide the cinch and help keep the bow in the desired shape. Weave in all the ends.
Sew a button on one side of the strap. What I love about double crochet is the spaces between each stitch. This eliminates any extra sewing that I have to do! So the double crochet space acts as the button hole.
Sew the bow onto the middle of the strap. Make sure the button is facing the same side of the bow.
I’m excited to start experimenting with different colour combinations with this pattern! And I think guys look quite dapper in bow ties! Look how handsome Martin looks!
