Oohohohoho, look who actually finished her cosplay _D I am sooo soo so pleased with this. Only bummer was that one of my cufflinks broke, and I´m probably going to leave out the cuffs altogether because they are hella uncomfortable to wear. Not pictured are - obviously - the wig (acquired but needs to be styled), the nylons, the shoes, and the gloves (which I have but didn´t feel like wearing them. Also say hello to Sweet´s No Make Up At All Face, spiced with a hint of Very Bad Hair Day. Yeah, messy braid is messy. And please don´t mind the fact that my phone still takes crappy pictures. Now I only need a photographer. Anyone here from Luxembourg who would not mind running around town in cosplay with me for a shooting? I´ll pay with a box of self made cupcakes. :3

[My cosplay partner for Ziska is beautiful~!!]

Guten Tag, Miles Edgeworth”, she cuckooed, not knowing that the boy in front of her probably did not understand a single word of English.

She eyed him up with a curiosity that only children seem to naturally have, but did her best to hide it behind an earnest looking façade as soon as she noticed the look her father was giving her. To her, he was an absolute novelty that needed further inspection.

At the same time, and for probably the first time in her young life, Franziska felt something like wariness, even if she did not have the vocabulary yet to define said feeling. She was not used to other children around the house, and the presence of this boy had her both excited and suspicious, especially since he had a look in his eyes that she did absolutely not understand.

She decided to keep a close eye on him.

Having no time for childish nonsense, von Karma turned to the nanny, instructing her to take the children to their rooms.

“Be sure to keep them there,” he said. “I have much to do, and I do not wish to be disturbed. The boy’s things that have arrived are already in his room. See to it that he unpacks properly.”

Miles was about to ask if they would have any time together, but his question was cut short by the man’s abrupt departure.

Franziska needed a bit of assistance to walk down the large flight of stairs leading to the entrance hall, but as soon as she saw her father, she let go of her nanny´s hand, slowly walked towards him, and proceeded to make what would have been the most adorable curtsey, if it wasn´t for the serious and solemn look on her face.

Guten Tag, Papa”, she greeted the man who was literally towering her; then she turned towards the newly arrived boy and made a second curtsey to greet him, all while mustering all her energy to prevent herself from curiously staring at him [Guten Tag = Good Day]

Miles eyed the girl hesitantly. Herr von Karma hadn’t said anything about another child - his own, judging from the way she addressed him - living here. He briefly envied the child based on that alone, the fact that she had a father...

...and I don’t...

Miles bit his lip, willing himself not to cry. He could hear Father’s voice in his mind.

Stand tall. Never show fear, lest it should consume you. An attorney has everything stacked against him. We must be brave and defend our clients until the very end.

“Are you paying attention, boy!?”

Miles flinched. Von Karma’s voice shook him from his reverie.

“No, sir...I mean, yes! Yes sir!”

Von Karma rolled his eyes. “We shall have to break you of that crude habit,” he muttered. “Nothing good comes from dreams. Pure, utter nonsense.”

He brought the girl forward. “My youngest, Franziska.”

Looking down at the child, he told her, “Miles Edgeworth. He will live with us from now on.”

As soon as she heard the familiar car pull up in front of the mansion, Franziska quickly rose from the small table in her room, the dark blue ribbon in her hair bouncing up and down as she ran towards the large window. Her nanny had been keeping her busy with a picture book and some child-friendly paragraphs to practice her reading.

While she was merely a toddler, Franziska von Karma was also what most people would call a prodigy, and her father made sure to have her talents encouraged and fostered from the very beginning. She did own a plethora of toys and stuffed animals of course, and she loved to play with them, though Papa insisted on having her follow a strict schedule, with only a few hours per day dedicated to playtime. “Fräulein, stop! You know your father does not want you to run inside of the house!”, the nanny exclaimed, but before she could reach the girl, Franziska was already pressing both hands against the window, looking down towards her father´s expensive car. “Papa”, she said, while the nanny adjusted her dress and her hair bow. “Yes, Fräulein, your father is bringing your new brother home. He told you about this, do you remember?” The girl nodded, and as the nanny extended her had to take her own, she straightened her posture, just as her father had told her to do, and together they went downstairs to greet the Master of the house, and the newly arrived family member.

Another servant had already met the master and new arrival at the door, collecting their coats and such. Miles was hesitant to part with his things, but he didn’t fight the man who took them very carefully. The boy watched closely as the man moved to a hall closet nearby to put them away.

Manfred von Karma slowly made his way into the hall, leaning heavily on his cane. Miles had been told that the older man had suffered an injury during the...well, during that day. On top of that, von Karma was old too, and thus, Miles didn’t expect to see the cane leave the man’s side any time soon.

“Just in time,” he heard von Karma say, addressing new people in the room.

|| Closed RP with @fraeuleinvonkarma The sights were beautiful; this much Miles acknowledged. That and the harsh sounds that the old man next to him made to get his attention at various times. Miles would immediately look up at the throat clearing that Herr von Karma made.

“Daydreams and such nonsense are for fools, Miles Edgeworth,” he said, firmly. A solid accent graced his words, thankfully understandable. Miles didn’t want to know what would happen if he asked Herr von Karma to repeat anything.

“Y-Yes, sir.”

“No stuttering either,” the man went on. “Be confident, commanding in your tone. People do not follow uncertainty. They need a leader. They seek it. You must be that leader in the courtroom and in life. Being associated with the von Karma name, I will expect nothing less from you. My family name carries a reputation that demands respect and dignity. Do you understand?”

“Yes, sir,” Miles replied. As afraid as he was, he was already teaching himself to hide it. It would be best for everyone.

The remainder of the ride was silent. Miles kept his attention straight ahead and sat upright. Thankfully, it wasn’t that much longer. The estate to which they pulled up the drive was rather large. The boy couldn’t keep the awe from his expression.

“You have a very nice home, sir,” he said.

Herr von Karma nodded. “Of course,” the man countered. “All of it, a grand part of the previously mentioned reputation.”

The driver made haste in opening the door for them, so quickly that Miles didn’t notice the lack of gratitude for his compliment. Herr von Karma was already making his way up the walk as Miles climbed out of the car, softly thanking the driver for his help. The young man grinned, nodding his head.

“MILES EDGEWORTH!” von Karma bellowed. “DO NOT DAWDLE!”

The boy ran as fast as he could to catch up, falling in pace as they made their way inside.
