i opened tumblr after weeks and i instantly break out in hives. i dont think i should do this then
not to be the centre of the universe but as i was writing my paper on sports violence and consent granting freedom of criminal liability in motorsports i kept thinking that i should’ve written about negligence instead of purposeful violence bc that’s much easier to find shit about in motorsports, and yesterday i returned my first draft of the paper. you know, day after the drivers were coerced to race and their efforts to negotiate their consent were suffocated by teams, the organisers and the government. on a track that has caused two major accidents in two days of driving. that drivers have said is dangerous.
so anyway i know the topic for my thesis

i thought what was quite interesting is at the end valtteri said that higher-ups were pretty adamant that the safest thing to do is to finish the race in jeddah and stay put, but he thinks that they definitely need to review which countries f1 races in because this weekend has not been fun for anyone

watching alfa romeo not only welcome valtteri but also rebuild the whole team around him is something he's deserved for so long. they're not only elevating him to lead the team as a driver but they've restructured their social media around him to keep up his fan momentum and let him be visible and loved, they've given him a fresh race engineer to build a new foundation from a clean slate, they've literally changed their sponsors so he can keep wearing the clothes and race overalls he's familiar with—all I hope is that they keep giving him the car he needs
i am fucking elated here over the race result and then valtteri’s interview is like “meh it was fine” and im taking this as a promise of more to come from the house of bottas and alfa romeo
