Had the pleasure to work again with @manicpixiedreamjop for this year's @theterrorreversebang.

When Edward’s boss at the magazine he works at is quoted saying something homophobic, it’s Edward’s job to clean up the mess, which leads him to the nonprofit that Thomas volunteers with. This new connection has the potential to turn both Edward and Thomas’ lives upside down. If only the two of them actually liked each other.

not an expert on british "food" but i'm 99% sure the green lump jopson crawls past is wet floral foam

prev tags gave me a brain blast you're sooo right esp about "symbolic victorian opulence"... it's like food in a dream

Most of the dishes are green in some way, too, which is a color we don't really see in the show, and the end result is even more unnatural looking.

Jopson is starving to death and the food he hallucinates looks both inaccessible due to class and inedible due to form; meanwhile, his Captain is whole and healthy - practically glowing - yet suddenly blind and deaf to him, as if Jopson were any other common servant to be ignored, instead of the man who steadily gained his confidence all the way to an unheard of promotion to Lieutenant.

I don't think Jopson is reaching out to strangle Crozier, but rather it's utter confusion and despair at why he was cast aside, knowing how strongly Francis was opposed to leaving any of the men -- a desperate bid for Crozier's recognition, which is more nourishing to him than food.

It would have been a mercy for Jopson to have died during Crozier's cow story. Jopson is literally having the "hallucinate the other guy on the desert island as a roast turkey" cartoon trope, but it's Crozier's approval he is hungry for here.

As an aside, it's interesting to see in the final episodes the context in which people still call Crozier, "captain". Jopson sees himself as Francis' loyal servant to the end. Edward is desperately trying to become the strong first Lieutant he should have been in the first place. Hickey casts aside the title in his bid to ascend to the top of the hierarchy. Dundy and the men who want to leave Francis behind evoke "the Captain's orders" as a way to prioritize their survival and absolve themselves of guilt over leaving a man they have no more respect for (but they pretend to respect the rank). Good shit.
