Blue Lace nodded. “O-of course! I’m so glad we ran into you!” He said, excitedly, his eyes sparkling with hope.

“They are when the aren’t around me. Dogs especially. They chew me up as if I’m a ragdoll.” Afterwards she gave a small cringe.

“Awhh, you poor thing!” Moss replied to her, looking back at the two as they continued on. “I can understand why they’d make that mistake though, you look like a doll.” “Its funny, neither of you look like the kind of gems to be peddling weaponry and looking for fallen ships, you know?”

“W-well, I am actually a technician. I work with machinery r-rather than..weapons.” Blue Lace said, blushing alittle bit.

“I work as a historian. I barely interact with weapons.” Rhodochrosite added. “Our boss wanted us to get out of our comfort zone and do something else for a change.”

“Woah that’s so impressive!!” They looked genuinely excited and interested about who the both of them were, since they used to be so accustomed to meeting all kinds of gems as a pilot. “Iolite used to be kind of like you, Blue! She worked on most of the ships’ machinery and stuff, when I uh… would kind of accidentally break things.” Moss said, muttering the lady part a bit. “But I guess you guys succeeded in getting out of your comfort zone, huh?”

Blue Lace blushed. “T-thank you!” He then looked over toward Iolite. “Really? T-that’s so cool!” He seemed very interested about these newfound gems. He hopes to learn more about them.

Both Rhodochrosite and Blue Lace turned to each other before looking back at Moss Agate. “Nah.” They said in unison.

“We got ourselves lost for one..” Rhodochrosite said solemly.

“Yeah, she really knew how to keep the place up and running! It’s not now… er, cause it’s gone, that is.” They rambled, looking over their shoulder to keep the conversation up with the two. They almost considered putting blue lace on their shoulders, to make them go a little faster and maybe make the both of them feel a little tall… but that might be heavy.

They pursed their lips, trying not laugh outright at the reaction. “Well… you’re not usually lost in a forest right?” Moss tried to reason. “And you’re not really lost if I’m here leading you!”

Blue Lace nodded. “Ah, y-your right! So there is nothing to worry about, t-then!” He clasped his hands together happily.

Rhodochrosite sighed, looking at the trees. “It’s a shame we never managed to find this ship…” She said.

“ mmhm, really a shame. It’s a pretty one! Even if it was just an exploration ship.” Moss replied, obviously proud of the thing.

Some time had passed then, though how much Moss couldn’t really tell from how dense the trees canopy had turned.

“But… i think we’re getting close to the exit, somewhat at least. See? I told you guys it wouldn’t be so bad!”

Blue Lace become hopeful. “Oh thank goodness!” He said excitedly, his gait became more graceful.

Rhodichrosite, however, maintained a straight face. She sharply turned toward Moss, her face did not move. “You have our gratitude. But I say, you must have loved that ship. I may not have been here earlier, but what have caused it to disappear?”

Rhodichrosite sighed. After hundreds of years, she learned to live with it. It’s her burden. The burden of being tiny.

“I see. That’s unfortunate..” She dusted off her dress. “Even after all that searching. It’s hard walking around when your small like this. Especially with all those big animals I have come across.”

Blue Lace chuckled. “S-so..do you have our map?” He asked politley.

Rhodochrosite shrugged. “No. Remember those animals I was talking about? They took that.”

Moss’ smile faded away and they gave an awkward cough. She didn’t look very amused by that, did she? Even still, They had to bite their lip to try and not giggle at the mention of how big the animals around were compared to her. “Yeah, it’s a shame really. It sort of just… took off. Its gone.”  “Er… wait, you mean you two are both completely lost?” Moss said, and looked genuinely worried. it was one thing if they were just separated and all, but they would feel really bad leaving them alone to deal with whatever else might be out there. The animals weren’t that hostile but… it just didn’t sit well with them.

“Seems like it.” Rhodochrosite said to Moss Agate. “Oh well. It’s been a nice run. Pleasure doing buisness with you, Blue Lace.” She then proceeded to lay on the ground, looking up. “Well, never knew I’d go out this way.”

Blue Lace began to go into a slight panic. “O-oh no! H-how could you do this! How are we going to go back?” Although Blue Lace was hysterical, his voice was still quite soft.

“Wha-?! How can you give up so easily when you have a little marshmallow to take care of?! Gems don’t even die that easy, worse comes to it you just wander around here for a few years!” Moss seemed very flustered at the ridiculousness of her response. In fact, they probably would’ve laughed at it if it weren’t  for Blue’s panic, and the uneasiness of leaving them all alone. “Look, I don’t know the exact way out of here, but I can try to help you! I can at least lead us to… well, not deeper into the forest, that’s for certain.” As much as Moss didn’t want to admit it, they hadn’t really ventured too far out since the war ended and they were unbubbled. They just never felt the courage to do so again. But it couldn’t hurt pushing these two in the right direction.

Blue Lace turned to them excitedly. “R-really! Ah, we’re saved! Thank you so much!!” He said excitedly.

Rhodochrosite sighed. “Better than laying here. Not that I mind. Blue Lace, carry me.”

Blue Lace turned to her confused. “Can’t you walk on y-your own?”

Rhodochrosite shook her head. “Like the gem with pretty hair said, I need to keep an eye on my little marshmellow.”

Blue Lace blushed furiously. “F-fine..” he then proceeded to carry Rhodochrosite on his shoulders.

“pretty?” Moss smiled a little bit at that, before trying to push a strand of their hand out of their face, only to have it fall back into place. That was certainly something they didnt expect to hear, as it was a tangled mess; so much so that they had lost a couple brushes in there… “Awh! Shes like a little human kitten or something!” They commented, that’s what tiny humans were called right? right, obviously. “But I think when i heard you guys, it sounded like you were coming from… er… that direction.”  They pointed out towards the trees, not looking any different from the rest that were around them.

Blue Lace looked over to where they were pointing. “O-over there..?” He said, absolutley amazed at thier senses. He hadn’t the slightest clue from where they came from, yet Moss managed to do that almost instantaneously. “Wow..” he whispered.

Rhodochrosite nodded, laying her head on Blue Lace’s hair. “Surprising that I am not really a cat person..” She purred.

They put their hands on their hips, a haughty look on their face. “Well, thank you! Like i said, I know this big old forest really well, I’ve been here a long time you know!” In all honesty, they weren’t entirely sure where they came from, they just knew that that direction was the way to leave the denser areas of the forest. Still, Moss wanted to seem smart at least.  “You’re not? Ah, I’ve never been able to decide between dogs and cats myself, They’re both way too cute!” They walked over to Dichro and Io, giving them a gentle nudge the other way. “You two head home okay? Just, uh, watch the base.”  as soon as the two left, Moss bounded back over to Lace and Rhodi. “Okay, we should hopefully be out before sundown! Then you two can go and… er, sell more weapons or whatever you guys do.“

Blue Lace nodded. "O-of course! I'm so glad we ran into you!" He said, excitedly, his eyes sparkling with hope.

“W-what a lovely name. I-It’s a pleasure to have met you, Moss Agate.” He said, taking their hand before gently shaking it. After retrieving his hand, he let them hang loosely at his sides. “You are correct. I came with a group…to look for the ship, b-but I got separated..” He trailed off, looking off into the forest.

Moss felt the hair on the back of their neck prick up at the fact that there was someone else around that could have found their ship by now. How in the world had they not realized? She looked up at Dichro’s face as if to exchange looks with him, but the corrupted gem looked mostly interested in more pets and praise.  “W…well thank you! Its not cute like “Blue Lace” but…” Moss clasped their hands together; an idea of how to keep an eye on both of the gems here! “You got separated? You poor thing, no wonder you look so blue!” They cooed, then laughed a little at the accidental pun. “I know this place like the back of my hand though, I could always help you find them!”

Blue Lace gave a heart-warming smile, a hint of blush appearing on his face. “T-thank you so much!” He said, happily. As they explained their idea, Blue Lace’s eyes sparkled. “Ohh, thank goodness I ran into you! T-thank you, Moss Agate!” He exclaimed, tearing up, as he went for a hug toward them. He’s not lost anymore!

Moss looked nothing short of puzzled and conflicted about Laces’ thankfulness and the hug, but hesitantly opened their arms to accept it. They felt a twinge of guilt in their stomach, that they lied to someone so innocent, but it had to be done. At least they’d help him find their friend, then they could be on their way with the ship being “gone.” “yeah, no problem blueberry,” They said with a tiny laugh, before looking around. “So… which way did you last see them? “

Blue Lace regained his composure before answering. “Oh..u-um…okay..” he looked around. “I believe I came from that direction. T-that’s where I saw my colleagues last.” He pointed directly behind Moss Agate.

Moss nodded, looking off in the direction that he was pointing. “Oh, well, okay! It shouldn’t be TOO hard to find them…” They started off in the direction, io and dichro following behind. “Heh, normally I’d ride Io or something, but I want to make sure you can keep up you know?” They looked pretty proud about that, head held high. “But… do you know if they were heading off in a certain direction? Just so we know where were going.”

Although he could ride along on his horse, he felt that walking with Moss Agate would be more fun, and alot less lonely. Having been asked that question, Blue Lace gave himself a moment to think. “W-well, they were sitting under a tree when I left them, but I b-believe they were heading in the more dense part of the woods.”

“hmm, I see.” They said with a nod.they seemed focused looking around the edge of the trees, looking for movement or any sign of another gem. “… hey, mind if i ask what you wanted with those weapons?” Moss asked, looking back over at him as they walked. “I mean, I get wanting the protection and all, but you dont seem like the type of gem that would have many enemies! You’re more like… er…” Their eyebrows knit together, trying to think of the proper earth term for what they were trying to say. “Like…a marshmallow?”

Blue Lace gave a mighty blush. “A..a marshmellow?” He said, chuckling. “Hehe, m-maybe. I’m not as strong as my colleages…” He trailed off slightly before changing the subject.

“W-well, to answer your question, I work with a group of gems that trades weaponry with groups, rebels, and other traders.” Blue Lace didn’t really want to add the word, ‘illegal’ into his work, for it seemed harsh. “We are just gathering more w-weapons to grow our inventory..” He explained.

“Eheh! Don’t worry, neither was I. Well, I’m still not.” They put a hand on one of the corrupted gems’ backs as they said this. “We just kind of… figure out how to be strong in our own way you know? ah… actually, that was cheesy.” Moss nodded at his response, satisfied with the answer. Well, at least it was just some business nonsense, and not something like self protection. If it was something like that, well, they’d feel guilty for keeping it from him. “Oh, hey, why dont you try calling for your friend? It might help… whats their name so I can help too? I’m pretty good at yelling! ”

Blue Lace shook his head. “I actually think that was r-really inspirational. Thank you for that.” He gave a warm smile towards Moss Agate. It’s nice to have somebody enjoy thier differences, and create amazing things with them.

“That sounds wonderful! Oh, and it’s Rhodichrosite. Y-you could just call them Rhodi to save the trouble.” He chuckled awkwardly to himself.

A small blush brushed onto their cheeks when he said that. “R…really? well, I’m glad I sounded at least a little inspirational. you’re welcome!!” The genuine joy and pride on their face was hard to miss, it was almost ridiculous. “oh! Thats a nice name too!” Moss replied with a nod, before they took a deep breath and brought their hands up to their face. “RHOOOOOODII!” The loud yell even made Io and Dichro stop and look at her with almost incredulous looks, like parents wanting to chide their child. “HEY, I’VE GOT YOUR FRIEND HERE!!

Blue Lace nodded in reply. “Of course!”

Upon the time Moss Agate yelled, Blue Lace jumped from how loud they were. “W-wow! You r-really are loud! That’s amazing!” He said, his voice still alittle shaky by the surprise. He looked around, awaiting any movement from the perimeter. Nothing happened.

Suddenly, the bushes rustled from nearby. Blue Lace looked over. “O-oh, that is most likely them.”

“mmhm! I’ve scared a couple of people like that~!” They replied with a little lopsided grin tugging at the edges of their mouth again. “But… are you sure thats not a rabbit or something? That seems awfully tiny to be your friend..”  Nonetheless, Moss edged a little closer to the rustling. “Is that you, er, ‘Rhodi’? I found your buddy, I’m sure you’re worried sick about him…”

Blue Lace twiddled his fingers nervously. “Well, the thing is…my friend really is that..s-small…”

Suddenly, a small, pink gem sporting frills and bows emerged from the bushes. Her braids held neatly over her puffy dress.

“Worried would be an overstatement.” She said sternly, looking up Moss Agate. “Thanks for finding him. I kinda thought he’d get lost. ”

Blue Lace blushed in embarrassment. “I-It’s nice to see you too, Rhodi..”

“Oh my gosh-!” Moss hopped back a little in surprise, definitely not expecting a gem to actually come out of the bush. “Look at-! I mean…!” They looked back and forth from Blue and Rhodi, a little sparkle in their eye. “Shes so tiny! I mean, I thought you were tiny but…!” They trailed off a little as they realized it was probably rude to be squeaking about how short someone is, but how could they help it? Rhodi looked like a little baby doll, right down to how frilly she was!  Moss cleared her throat and tried their best to sound a little more serious. “But, er, yes, he’s perfectly okay! I let him know that the ship you two are looking for is long gone, sorry about that.”

Rhodichrosite sighed. After hundreds of years, she learned to live with it. It's her burden. The burden of being tiny.

"I see. That's unfortunate.." She dusted off her dress. "Even after all that searching. It's hard walking around when your small like this. Especially with all those big animals I have come across."

"Well, the thing is...my friend really is that..s-small..."

Suddenly, a small, pink gem sporting frills and bows emerged from the bushes. Her braids held neatly over her puffy dress.

"Worried would be an overstatement." She said sternly, looking up Moss Agate. "Thanks for finding him. I kinda thought he'd get lost. "

Blue Lace blushed in embarrassment. "I-It's nice to see you too, Rhodi.."

A walk in the forest
