“You’ve travelled a long way to get here, and I know from experience the journey you took was not an easy one. So I can only assume you’ve come here for a reason.”

"I don’t believe that. Someone had to have stopped him in the past.” There had to be records of him being stopped somewhere. Why else would those damn stones have been separated? Whatever had happened to Loki he had a feeling was behind his fear. It was most likely also why he was desperate to hide from everyone. Thor never told them what happened. Just that he’d been held captive. And he was finding out that he did not have much intel they could use. Not unless they really wanted to drag out the more painful methods and he’d already told them they weren’t going to use them against Loki. He may have been their prisoner but that didn’t mean they could use whatever necessary. “If he kills us all it won’t be without a fight. We’re not going to go down without one. You could always help us. Might look good for you in the eyes of the people here.”

“Why do you think he’s been stopped in the past?” As far as Loki was aware, no one had gone against him before and lived. There was a reason his name was FEARED across the universe, and why no one dared to cross him. When Loki had first met Thanos, he'd not known anything about the Titan, he'd been tortured and then drawn in by promises of power and revenge. Thanos had shown him things Loki had never thought possible, but he'd realised too late that he was being manipulated, and now his life was at risk of ending whenever Thanos felt like taking it. It was the worst torture of all. Loki never knew when Thanos would be coming for him, so he was forced to constantly be on guard. It was driving him INSANE. "If we're going to die, why should it matter how people see me?" If Steve wanted to go on a suicide mission, then he was an idiot, but Loki wouldn't be joining him.

In his current condition he was surprised that he’d taken down the last remaining guard. He knew that most of it was thanks to adrenaline but he could also feel some of that strength starting to slip away. If he and Loki were going to get away Steve knew he’d have to ignore everything else and focus on finding their way out. A part of him wanted to know why they’d captured not only himself but Loki, too. As far as he knew HYDRA was still trying to cleanse the world but from the shadows since they couldn’t do it out in the open like before. The cosmic cube was safe on Asgard and the stone in Loki’s sceptre was in Vision. So what did they have to gain for taking the two of them hostage? There was no way for either one of them to get the answers to those questions. The only thing he could focus on was getting out and then finding someone who could help them get the damn cuffs off of their wrists. He was certain neither one of them wanted to be stuck like this for any longer than absolutely necessary.
“More are probably already on their way,” he agreed, stepping over the downed guards and looking to see which way might get them out. The guards had come from the left, or so he assumed, which meant left was probably their way to freedom. He knew they’d end up having to face more guards though it was also possible that they’d only left a small crew until the time came to do whatever it was they had planned on doing with them. Steve knew they couldn’t risk finding more trouble than they could handle. Of course, he never expected Loki to suggest they stay together and looking at him he was certain the confusion was written all over his face. “That’s a good idea. I feel like I should be asking what happened to the Loki I fought  since this one isn’t like him at all.” Neither of them had time to debate semantics. He knew they needed to get out of the prison before reinforcements arrived. “To the left and hope that no one is behind that damn door,” he suggested, taking another step before he realised that Loki would have to follow. The sooner they got out of the prison the better off they’d both be.

Loki truly hoped Steve wouldn’t be a hindrance to their escape, when Barton had given him all the information on the Avengers; he’d learnt that Steve had a high tolerance for pain, as well as the ability to heal from wounds quicker than others. It wasn’t anything near to what Loki had in healing abilities; but it at least meant that Steve wasn’t going to bleed out on him. If he did, it would cause them both a lot of problems, and Loki would loose whatever slither of respect he had for Steve. The wound wasn’t that deep, and it wasn’t a fatal wound, Loki had made sure of that. He felt rather proud of himself for holding back, when everything within him burned with a desire to kill the man. Loki would have to pat himself on the back after all of this was over, and after he did that, he could finish the job and actually kill Steve. Maybe if Loki was feeling super extra nice; he would heal Steve’s wound instead. He wasn’t sure yet what he’d do, it would be a surprise for them both.

Taking a moment to search the guards pockets, Loki found one of the Midgardian’s primitive guns and offered it to Steve. Knowing Mr Goody Two Shoes, he would probably refuse to use it. But having a gun was better than having nothing, and Loki couldn’t see anything nearby that Steve could use as a makeshift shield. “We have to be smart about this, we can’t just run around this base blindly.” He hoped Steve would make the smart choice and take the gun. They would probably be facing a lot more HYDRA agents who’d be more heavily armed than the guards had been, and Loki was planning on leaving here without it being in a body bag. “You know nothing about me Captain, so you have no base for judging my character.” He was a survivalist, unfortunately the only way to ensure his survival was working with Steve. Loki wasn’t thrilled with the idea, but it wasn’t like he had any other option; not whilst they were chained together. “I might not have my magic, but if we get to one of the terminals, I should be able to hack the system and get schematics of the place.” Loki had learnt a lot whilst he’d been on the run, the mortal’s computers hadn’t been too difficult to learn; especially when they were just ancient versions of what the Aesir had. “Let’s see what we can find.”
