Not to be dramatic or anything but this is the best scene on television history

I swear to god if Andre Braugher doesn’t get a fucking emmy for this episode i’m going to go down there and murder every emmy voter.

Part of the meta level genius of the episode is that prior to Sterling K. Brown’s Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series last year, Andre Braugher was the last African American to win in the category almost 20 years prior.  Pairing them highlights both their amazing talent and the absurdity of the drought.

When you then consider that Braugher is able to both play homage to, and lovingly poke fun at, the character for which he won that Emmy, it does indeed become one of the best things ever.

(Braugher was also pretty poorly treated in terms of offered roles for many years after his breakout as Frank Pembleton so this read as very cathartic as well)
