Person A was being stalked by person B, a spirit or demon or something along those lines and had a warding ritual done to keep it away. Unfortunately said ritual does not extend to blocking dreams or mail.
bonus if Person B sends Person B a dead bird in the mail or something, just to freak them out, and spams their email account too.

Imagine Person A of your OTP becomes jealous and obsessive with Person B, due to a misunderstanding. First, it’s only arguments, then it becomes emotional abuse, before spiraling into vicious physical abuse, where Person A results to beating and choking Person B, to keep them in line and away from “others”. Optional: Person A could abuse them in “other” ways as well.
Imagine person A of your OTP coming down with a cold or short-term illness and person B offering to nurse them back to health. Person A eventually agrees, but person B makes it so person A will be sick for as long as possible because they enjoy seeing person A in that helpless state.
