"Were you at that one party?"

HE HAD TO THINK ON THIS ONE.  had  he  been  to  any  parties  where  he’d  left  the  place  sober  ?  and  if  so,  would  he  have  remembered  a  face  like  hers  ?  surely.  she  had  one  of  those  sombre  and  detached  jean  luc  godard  faces  —  if  you  had  the  chance  to  look  directly  into  her  eyes,  you’d  either  get  a  glare  or  a  glaze.  playing  it  safe,  he  decided  to  take  on  the  role  of  the  honest  abe.

in  a  surprisingly  low  tone,  which  was  roughened  further  by  his  accent,  he  gave  his  answer:  ❛❛  been  to  a  fair  share  ov  par’ies,  so  you’ll  ‘ave  to  be  a  bit  more  specific..  ❜❜  he  punctuated  it  with  a  little  twitch  of  his  brow,  all  the  while  purposely  avoiding  the  pierce  of  her  stare  beneath  the  hood  of  his  eyelids.

NORMALLY,  it  was  the  management  of  the  hotel  coming  to  knock  at  his  door  about  the  loud  music,  and  for  a  minute,  john  was  sure  he’d  open  to  a  rather  tousled  old  lady.  instead,  he  was  greeted  by  his  bandmate’s  girlfriend  which  immediately  prompted  him  to  head  back  inside,  switch  off  the  portable  record  player,  and  beckon  her  inside.  with  a  cheeky  grin,  he  teased  her.

❛❛  luv,  if  you’re  gonta  be  an  ‘oo  musician’s  boyflend,  you’ve  got  t’be  prepared  for  loud,  loud  music..  ❜❜

JOHN ENTWISTLE   ( 9 October 1944 –  27 June 2002  ∞ )

❝ John loved to give gifts. He enjoyed watching the expression on people’s faces as they opened whatever he gave them. Sometimes the gift would be humorous and he would wait for you to get the joke. Other times he would touch your heart by turning up with the most thoughtful gift picked out just for you and carried half way around the world. He once scoured the toy shops in the United States until he was able replace a hard-to-find toy that was stolen from his son during a train ride. John loved the holidays and enjoyed decorating his home for Christmas. He would shop for Christmas presents year round and spoil everyone that he was close to on Christmas Day. ❞ – Steve Luongo
❝ The noise that John made in his life will still be echoing around the universe.❞ – Roger Daltrey
❝ He was a very strange fellow. I loved John, obviously, loved him for his eccentricities. He had an extraordinary way of eating. Wouldn’t touch anything on his plate until it was all cut up. Then he would eat it not quickly, but methodically, precisely. I think he was a little bit Asperger’s. ❞ – Pete Townshend
❝ On first meeting John Entwistle, I wasn’t quite certain whether he was introspective or stupid. As I got to know him, I found him extremely introverted and dominated by the other members of the band. But when I probed more deeply I discovered him to be the intellectual equal of his colleagues and perhaps gifted with more natural talent. One of the finest rock bassists ever, John managed to hold Moon’s drumming, and the way he carried the melody line on his bass out front was almost unique and revolutionary for its time. He was the musical anchor of the band, and his excellence was the backbone of their work. ❞ – Tony Klinger.
❝ I get most of my satisfaction from playin’ on the stage. Although I may look … bored to tears on the stage. [laughs] I real—I really enjoy it, I enjoy playing … to an audience. I mean to me, bein’ a rock musician is—is showin’ off, to an audience. ❞ – John Entwistle, 1982

We still miss you, John.

oh come on, everyone can dance – i’ll show you !! ❜

❝ Who  told  you  I  couldn’  dance ?  ❞  John  countered  with  a  smirk,  stepping  towards  her  to  near  his  proximity  to  the  dance  floor.  He  wasn’t  sure  who  this  little  girl  was,  but  she  was  challenging  him  to  a  dance,  and  he  couldn’t  step  down.  Though  he  seemed  like  a  gruff,  sedentary  oaf,  he  was  actually  rather  fond  of  dancing.  ❝  Show  me  what  you  know  before  I  out-dance  you,  ❞  he  teased  with  a  cheeky  grin.
