#FridayReads - Julie Wright's An Inconvenient Letter

Recently, I’ve been downloading a ton of Regency (or Regency-esque) novels from Bookbub. They’re not my favorite (because I like my smut to involve people who bathe regularly), but I am most definitely a Jane Austen girl at heart. I also really like Arranged Marriage/ Fake Marriage/ Marriage of Convenience, and they are all big staples in Regency Romance.  So getting to read an ARC for Julie…

Top 5 Wednesday - He Fell First

I didn’t really like the topics this month, but I refused to let the day go by without catching this last Wednesday.  This week’s Top 5 Wednesday topic was He Fell First, and if there’s anything that I love in my romance it’s the man (or the other partner) falling first.   Continue reading Untitled

Top 5 Wednesday - Instant Pre-Orders

These days I don’t too much do pre-orders, but I definitely used to show up to Barnes and Noble on a Harry Potter release day to pick up my copy. Now I’m more likely to immediately add books to my Amazon wishlist, but some authors still get an automatic buy. This Top 5 Wednesday, we’re talking about Instant Pre-Orders: Continue reading Untitled

Review Roundup - August 7th to October 1st, 2023

I told myself that, in this most recent return to blogging, I wouldn’t make any excuses for delays. I didn’t want to make any more posts where I’d have to acknowledge my return, because life is life and things really do happen. But August was a bit weird, and sometimes you really do have to sit down with yourself and say, “There is a problem here, and the least I can do is fix what I can and…

Top 5 Wednesday - Favorite Side Characters

I consume a lot of media and I’ve been reading fanfiction for 20 solid years. The thing I’ve noticed is that the biggest fandoms with the most fics have a ton of world-building. And when you’ve got a good amount of world-building, that usually means that you have a ton of side characters for fans to pick, choose, and refuse. (We love that, by the way).  This week’s Top 5 Wednesday covers my…

#FridayReads - Bianca Pensy Aba's Across Both Sides of the Mirror

Do you ever want to know what life would be like if you had done something different? If you had a cooler comeback or jumped on a chance that you originally didn’t think much of? Sometimes it can be really easy to get caught up in the what-ifs, but, ultimately, what’s done is done and we just need to move forward.  In Across Both Sides of the Mirror, Nova Wright’s life has become terribly…

Top 5 Wednesday - Arranged Marriage

I don’t know what it is with me, but I love an arranged marriage story. I think I’m a fan of anything that speeds up the romance or gives the relationship a reason to make things work, but I just enjoy a good arranged marriage. Whoever started putting that idea to me in a good light really did stellar work.  How fitting that this week’s Top 5 Wednesday topic is Arranged Marriages.  Continue…

#FridayReads - Eden Appiah-Kubi's Her Own Happiness

This week’s pick included a quick discussion about Tess of the D’Ubervilles that I couldn’t make fit in my review. However, I still want y’all to know that I agree with any and all slander about that horrible book. In Her Own Happiness, Maya Davis is caught unaware as her dream life crumbles around her. Now, heading back to her parent’s house with her best friend, Ant, in tow, Maya has to…

#FridayReads - C A Wittman's The Girl in the Garden

If I never read another CA Wittman novel involving the Marchand family, I would be absolutely fine, but it won’t be because this woman cannot write. Some might even say she writes too well.  In The Girl in the Garden, a woman tending the garden in her new house is shocked to find the bones of a dead child. Hours away, Gina Kowalski and her sister, Megan Black, have to deal with the ghosts of…

#Top5Wednesday - TBR Goals

I haven’t done a Top 5 Wednesday in years, but y’all know how I feel about having to acknowledge a gap.  Thankfully this week’s was an easy one. I don’t think anyone ever bothers with their TBR, but here are five books I want to try to knock out this month. I’m not even going to summarize most of these, because they’ve been in my TBR so long that I honestly don’t remember.  Continue reading…

Some actual canon Stucky lines that make me feral (this isn't even all of them)

"Why? Where are we going?" "The future."

"What do you plan to do, walk to Austria?" "If that's what it takes."

"I thought you were dead." "I thought you were smaller."

"Go on, get out of here!" "NO! Not without you!"

"You ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?" "Hell, no. That little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb not to run away from a fight. I'm following him."

"But you're keeping the outfit, right?" "You know what? It's kind of growing on me."

"Best friends since childhood, Bucky Barnes and Steven Rogers were inseparable on both schoolyard and battlefield."

"Believe it or not, it's kind of hard to find someone with shared life experience." *Bucky returns*

"Even when I had nothing, I had Bucky."

"But I knew him."

"He doesn't know you." "He will."

"Thank you, Buck, but I can get by on my own." "The thing is, you don't have to. I'm with you to the end of the line, pal."

"You're. My Mission." "Then finish it, cuz I'm with you to the end of the line."

"She tell you to stay out of it? Might have a point." "He'd do it for me."

"You know he knew you. Your pal, your buddy, your Bucky" "What did you say?" "He remembered you. I was there. He got all weepy about it 'til they put his brain back in a blender."

"I know how much Barnes means to you. I really do."

"Which Bucky am I talking to?" "Your mom's name was Sarah...You used to wear newspapers in your shoes." "Can't read that in a museum."

"I don't know if I'm worth all this, Steve." "What you did all those years . . . it wasn't you. You didn't have a choice."

Review Roundup - July 31st - August 6th, 2023

Recently, a friend of mine asked how I have the time to watch all these dramas. The answer is that I don’t have dependents.  Another answer is that short dramas make the best sense. They don’t have to fill a bunch of space, so they tell only the story that they meant to and get to the point quicker. I still like a good epic, though. You really can’t beat a fully fleshed-out story.  Continue…

Review Roundup - July 10 to 30, 2023

I’m not going to lie and say that I didn’t do a lot this month, but I didn’t do as much as I wanted to. I’ve skipped a couple of Sundays worth of Roundups, but I’m here now and I refuse to let that stop me.  This month was more cartoons than dramas, but I take my media in phases, so that didn’t surprise me at all. I actually got into Streamberry’s My Happy Marriage this month as well, but I’ll…

Review Roundup - July 9, 2023

This week I stumbled upon Thailand’s extremely popular 2018 drama, Love Destiny.  To be completely fair, I had Love Destiny: The Movie sitting on my Netflix watchlist for something like 2 weeks. I got bored on Wednesday night and figured I had the needed 3 hours to watch it. I’m not going to say that I didn’t expect to like it, because I’m only interested in happy romances these days. The…

Review Roundup - June 26th - July 2nd, 2023

In the last year, I have been sporadically reviewing Asian dramas as I’ve been consuming them. I don’t think that it’s a surprise to anyone that I’ve been watching them, but I’ve only recently got into video reviews as well. I had always intended to go to YouTube, but TikTok has just been easier for when I’m cycling through books.  I think that the more I get into reviewing Asian dramas, the…
