I will never forget that video where CashMoney were having a concert and they wanted chicks to come on stage to dance, and Birdman was only picking men while Juvenile and Mannie Fresh women. At one point, there were more men than women. Mannie Freah was confused like "what hell is going on". Birdman on the other hand was liking his lips like "I fuck niggas too". 🤣😂😂😂.

Fun times indeed.

This is the video I am referring too.

Okay since that particular mugshot is circulating all over, that is Goldie Williams/Meg Murphy mug shot, I want to talk a little about my intentions behind posting this mugshot and why I’m not actually overjoyed that it got that many notes. Considering the photograph, my foolish self should have known that it was going to explode but I tricked myself into thinking that it was going to be a 61 notes posts like my usual most popular posts. And I’m funny about adding additional context because of my OCD symptoms, which of course made the thing worse. Goldie Williams was originally from Chicago. Vagrancy laws at the time were so wilfully vague  that a police officer finding you outside (especially if you were a Black woman) could legally book you without you doing anything. She was presumably a “prostitute”. But my goal in posting that mugshot, which I had first seen in Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments by Saidiya Hartman, was to show the small act of defiance a Black woman could display, even in the wolf’s maws. Because what she was doing wasn’t just “badass”: it was actively dangerous. And also the mystery, that nobody had seemed to solve or look into about what happened to her after (she wasn’t released, I know that much).

“Vagrancy statutes and the Tenement House Law made young black women vulnerable to arrest. What mattered what not what you had done, but the prophetic power of the police to predict the future, and anticipate the mug shot in the bright eyes and intelligent face of Esther Brown.”— from Wayward Lives, Beautiful Lives by Saidiya Hartman

“Staying out all night at a dance with her friends and stealing two dollars to buy a new dress so she could perform on stage were sufficient reasons to commit her. Mickey cursed and pummeled the wall with her fists and refused to stop no matter how tired she was.”

“She had been in the Disciplinary Building more times than her disciplinary sheet revealed. In Rebecca Hall, she schemed and plotted and incited the others girls to rioting and disorder. She was proud to have been the cause of considerable trouble during her entire time at Bedford.”— from Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments by Saidiya Hartman
