the past is bitter sweet

“You do. You’ve proven that many times.” They passed the doors. “You’ve smiled and promised no matter what, they are loved.” They reach the desk and quickly told who they are and what for. The nurse made a call as he turned to smile to his wife. “I have no doubt you’ll be a great mom.”

Anna winces as another contraction hits. “This really hurts”

A nurse thankfully comes with a wheelchair, and both the nurse and Lambo help Anna to the wheelchair to wheel her to the room. Lambo tries to keep up with his hand still holding on Anna’s hand as he gave the other nurse details of what happened.

Anna whinces and squeezes her husband’s hand. “Lambo I feel like I need to push.”

Nurses, hearing that, scrambled to get the room and doctor ready. Lambo nodded. “If you have to, do it.” With Lambo and the nurses’ help, Anna is on the bed, sitting up to lessen the pain of pushing.

Anna pushes and grips lambos hand. “It really hurts!”

It was chaos in the next hours. The doctor comes, orders are shouted, machines installed, and Anna squeezes Lambo’s hand.

After 3 hours of pushing their baby girl makes her appearance. Anna looks to lambo to see his reaction to their baby. "Is she okay?" Anna asks when lambos eyes begin to tear up.

Both families that raised him (biological and surrogate) quickly accepted Anna, which relieved him even though he shouldn’t have, but that nervousness will happen regardless of the assurance beforehand. “I’m glad you feel comfortable around them. Meeting families for the first time can be a nervous track.”

“I was pretty nervous. I still feel really bad about breaking that vase.” Anna chuckles

Lambo lightly waved his hands. “Nah, like I’ve said before, my family keeps an antique shop business afloat with how many they’ve kept breaking other vases. At this point, it’s like a tradition to at least break one.”

“Still though it was pretty awkward with everyone staring at me” Anna chuckles

“Babe, they were more surprised it was an accidental break rather than one breaking from….” his face scrunched up while choosing his words. “Roughhousing. Which happens a lot, and I mean A Lot. I’m surprised that our daughter has yet to break one.”

"I may have told her it's for her college fund just because I don't want her to get hurt" Anna confesses playing with her fingers nervously.

Lambo hummed, not in disapproval but in acknowledgment that he’s listening to his wife. “My family is mixed with modern and old fashioned. Old fashioned enough to tell me to ask your dad for your hand if you’re comfortable enough for me to ask. It wasn’t going to change my mind of marrying you but they also wanted to know what kind of drama might happen.”

“He was just raised differently, that’s all. But I love that you’re different. Our daughter is going to grow up with a great father that would do anything for her.” Ann smiles giving Lambo kiss on the cheek.

Lambo grinned as he returned the kiss. “And growing up to be a wonderful and kind person like her mother.”

“I just hope I raise her well. I want her to have the thing I didn’t growing up.” Anna says softly

“As mischievous she is, she knows when to apologizing sincerely. Or if she’s stuck, she knows how and who to ask for help.” He grasp his wife’s hand. “No matter what, she knows she has family to rely on. Just like you know you can rely on us.”

Anna squeezes lambos hand. "I'll forever be grateful for you family accepting me as one of their own."

Despite the situation, Lambo smiled a little at what his wife said. She knew what to say to calm him. Once upon arriving at the hospital, he help his wife as much as he can without hurting her.

Anna groans in pain as she struggles to get out of the car. “I hope our doctor is here, I don’t think I’ll be comfortable with a different one.”

Once his wife is on her two feet and good balance, he gets the bag with the necessary papers. “I’ve checked beforehand. They are here.” Guiding his wife and thankfully there isn’t much busybodies to notify about Anna’s condition.

"That's good. I'm just nervous and scared. What if I don't have what it takes for this?" Anna rambles as they walk towards the hospital doors.

Lambo hummed, not in disapproval but in acknowledgment that he’s listening to his wife. “My family is mixed with modern and old fashioned. Old fashioned enough to tell me to ask your dad for your hand if you’re comfortable enough for me to ask. It wasn’t going to change my mind of marrying you but they also wanted to know what kind of drama might happen.”

“Anna!” Lambo quickly is holding her against him so she won’t collapse.

“My water broke. Lambo my water broke!” Anna stares at her husband in shock.

Shock froze him for a moment before taking action although he tried not show his worry as he covered her with her coat. “The suitcase is by the door as well as your purse,” he help guide his wife to the front door. “Is there anything we need before locking the door?”

“I didn’t put the car seat in the car yet. But I don’t think I can wait!” Anna says trying to breathe through her contraction.

“I’ll install it later. First you and the baby are propriety right now.” Locking the door and helping his wife in her seat before Lambo started the car to go directly to the hospital.

“I’m scared. What if I can’t do this?” Anna says softly then groaning in pain as another contraction hits.

Lambo heard his wife, if he could he would be holding her hand to assure her. “I’ll be there with you to hold your hand.” Now they are closer. “And there’s no doubt you can do it.” Sees the hospital.

"I know you'll always be there for me and I love you so much for that."

“Ice method is something I keep seeing the salons do to quicken the nails to dry. Though now that I think about it, we ran out of ice this morning.“ Lambo pursed his lips.

“Oh I’ve just remembered I have a can of nail quick dry. Let me run up to our room to grab it real quick.” Anna says heading for the stairs

“Be careful!” Lambo called out after his wife as the went up stairs as he sofly shakes his hand to keep making them dry.

Anna makes it up the steps safely. She grabs the can of quick dry off her vanity. “Here hold your hands out and I’ll spray them for you.”

Doing as told, Lambo holds out his hand. “Thankfully I don’t have any cuts on my hands.”

“It is a good thing. I’ve discovered cuts I didn’t even know I had using this stuff.” Anna says as she sprays her husband’s hands. “Our little girl is very lucky to have you as a dad. My dad would have never left me do his nails.”

Lambo did a small hiss at the mention of the cuts. “Ouch, that would sting like you pour a cup of alcohol.” Looking up with a confused look. “He does know that nail polish exist right? I’ve seen men that breaks wooden planks easily wear pink or black nail polish.”
