Okay i can’t go without saying this one last thing and yes it’s a very specific rant:
I’ve always hated y’all headcanoning HP as “black mixed ethnicity” and DM hating him because of being “not enough”
Because as a black biracial woman... that’s not a thing lmaooooo
colorism/exoticism doesn’t actually work in favor of the non mixed and I’m sick of these experiences being trivialized/fetishized so that mixed people can have one more goddamn work that praises them for being the chosen one when if anything, the “pure” ( and boy howdy do i hate that phrase because blood quantums are guess what! Based on super racist thoughtlines! And also surprise! A lot of black people have European ancestry as a result of rape!) minority/oppressed population are the ones that suffer more.
Obviously mixed black people may and do experience some racial displacement depending on their parents (cough non black parents im looking @ u) but we do not suffer nearly as much as our “non mixed” peers. Like okay maybe i got a few “why do u talk like that” comments but it’s not on the same colorist level that a lot of light skinned mixed black women throw back at their darker cousins and you’ll never convince me of that. The whole notion of that feels very much playing the victim and gaslight-y to me.
