Also not sure why I never wrote about this but as some of you know, Austin Carlile is my hero, and my inspiration-as he is to so many. I actually had the biggest mental breakdown when he announced his departure from Of Mice and Men back in December-but not because he was leaving Of Mice and Men, because I’m just sad to see everything changing. I started listening to Of Mice and Men when I was not exactly in a good place in my life, and as I continued listening to them my life started getting better and I got even more passionate about everything that Austin wrote about. When I met him, and I met the rest of the band, I was finally able to let go of a lot of the things that were holding me down for so long. After hearing of his departure from the band, I came to realize that not everything that I hold onto so tightly will stay the same forever, not everything that I rely on should be something that I should necessarily rely on. It just got me thinking about how if it had been maybe 4 years back, when I was still to reliant on the music and on the lyrics, I probably would have been hurting a lot more. I guess what I’m trying to say is...yes I will always miss Austin being apart of Of Mice & Men, but it is not something to whine about. Be happy, be kind, and honestly I am so glad that he is taking care of himself. Also, Unbreakable is so great! The band will always be one of my favorites, regardless of who is apart of it and what kind of music they are producing.
