Rafe woke from a dead sleep. He could feel anger and anxiety settling in his chest. Rafe sat up and went to climb out of bed, only for Aurora’s hand to stop him. The simple touch eased his racing heart, leaving the tinges of anger as he laid back down. Aurora was still asleep, sprawled across the other side of the bed on her stomach. As he settled beside her, she opened her eyes.
“What’s wrong?” She yawned, her voice muffled by her pillow.
“Nothing, go back to sleep,” Rafe whispered, scooting closer.
Aurora shifted, rolling on her side and resting her head on his chest. She sighed when she heard his heart racing under her.
“Rafe,” She whispered.
“I woke up angry,” Rafe admitted, running his fingers through her hair. “I don’t know why. I could feel the anger and anxiety running through me as someone shot it into my veins. I was going to go to the gym and work it out. You calmed me down, I’m okay now.”
“As long as you’re sure,” Aurora yawned, closing her eyes. “Go back to sleep, baby. You wore me out and I have to work tomorrow.”
“I wish you didn’t,” Rafe whispered, kissing her head. “I’m going to sleep. Close your eyes, my darling.”
A few hours later, Aurora woke before Rafe. She watched him sleep, his eyelids flickering as he dreamed. While his nightmares were far and few between, he always awoke from them angry. Aurora had decided her boyfriend needed therapy, something his father was happy to get him when Rafe brought the idea to him. Most of the time, a touch is all it took for him to calm down, the reminder he wasn’t alone.
“I can feel you looking at me,” Rafe grumbled, wrapping an arm around her without opening his eyes.
“I can’t help it,” Aurora whispered, snuggling closer and looking at him. “You’re all mine and I can look at you all I want.”
Rafe cracked his eyes open, seeing her smiling face. He smiled back and kissed her forehead. Aurora sighed and shifted up, sealing her lips over his. Rafe groaned into the kiss, pulling her on top of him and flipping them over. He never broke the kiss as he pinned her to the bed, his body wedged between her thighs.
“My good girl,” Rafe whispered against her lips.
Aurora moaned softly, tilting her head as he kissed down her neck. Rafe bit her pulse point as there was a knock at the door. Aurora sighed dramatically, and Rafe dropped his head on her shoulder.
“Come in, if you must,” Rafe announced, rolling off Aurora and letting her out of bed.
