It doesn’t matter how inexperienced or unprepared you think you are, if suicide squad can win an oscar, you can get that job you’re applying for.

This is kind of disrespectful towards the makeup artists. They worked hard and their talents were recognized. It’s not about Joker’s green hair. It’s about the tattoo work on El Diablo and Enchantress. It’s about the makeup for Killer Croc.  Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje had to spend hours in a makeup chair every day to be turned into Killer Croc.

This was not cgi. The makeup artists spent hours and multiple days applying and re-applying this makeup. It’s impressive how they made the makeup able to move in a way that Adewale could still emote and create facial expressions, even with all that makeup. It was all planned. Suicide Squad didn’t win in script writing it won in hair and makeup which they did work hard and prepare for. Honestly, y’all are acting like children with this bandwagon hate.

Also, I’m not sure people entirely understand how the Oscars work, but Best Picture is the only award that has open voting for all industry members across the board. Otherwise, voting in your category is limited to the people in your field. That is to say, if you’re up for Best Cinematography, the only people voting in your category are members of the Cinematographer’s Guild. If you’re up for Best Original Screenplay, your votes are coming from members of the Screenwriter’s Guild.

So when somebody wins for Hair & Makeup, it’s like Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were sitting around going “Oh, you know what? Let’s all be goofballs and throw a bone to our friends in Suicide Squad! It’s only a minor peasant category, so who will care? Heehee!” No, the only people voting are the nominees’ fellow professional hair and makeup artists, who actually know what kind of effort went into the design and process, even if the film as a final product was a glorified flop.

They’re not voting for the film, they’re voting for the nominees’ very specific body of work as contained by that project.

Asperatus Clouds are so rare that they were only classified as of 2009. We know little about them other than the fact that they look mesmerizing.
