hey fellow artists I know that we all want to create huge beautiful peices with dynamic poses all the time but sometimes you just gotta draw a guy just kinda standing there. For your mental health I guess.
Hey, if you don’t have something nice to say about other people’s creations (gifsets, art, fic etc)
then
don’t say anything at all.
You’re telling me you think you have a right to give unsolicited criticism on fandom content that someone made for free? No. You don’t. There is a huge difference between giving someone constructive criticism when they invite it, and rolling into their comments and replies to tell a creator you don’t like their work.
The former is a cooperative collaboration. The latter? It’s useless. It’s not something the creator asked for, it’s not what fandom content is about.
The unsolicited negative opinion of some Internet stranger, even if it’s given with the aim to be helpful (which it rarely is, to be honest) often does more harm than good.
Fandom content is first and foremost made for the creator. They write the fic they want to read or post the gifsets they want to see.
They post because they want to share that joy within a community, and if they want constructive criticism they will ask for it and invite trusted individuals they know to offer it.
Also not every creative endeavour is practice “for the real thing”. Not everyone wants to improve. Sometimes they just want to make a thing and be satisfied with it.
also, this sort of argument always conflates the right to do something in terms of, like, legality with the right to not be considered a jerk for doing the thing
you CAN hop onto people’s art and fic posts to tell them how much you dislike the thing they made. nobody’s gonna arrest you or kick you out of fandom. what they will probably do is decide that you’re a rude, entitled asshole
it’s not illegal to be an asshole, but it’s not really something to aspire to, either

I think the best way to fight this AI shit is just to support actual creators. The cat's out of the bag with AI; our data's going to be taken and used without our consent whether we like it or not, so maybe we should put efforts into holding up those who create their own stuff. Comment/interact on people's writings and art. Make it worth them posting; make it clear that what the people are interested in isn't generated stuff, but things that people have actually done themselves. It's a drop in the ocean, but showing creators that it's them that deserve the support at least serves to cut off a tiny bit of oxygen to these AI hogs - and make a difference to creatives who are trying against hope to share with a community.
also, needless to say, never ever ever pay money for anything ai generated. money is for artists, not computers
My best friend started putting “no AI was used in the creation of this book or its cover” in their books and i need all trad publishing to put their money where their mouth is and start doing this too!!!!!!!
People used to comment on web comics.
People used to comment on fanfiction.
People used to comment on fanart.
People used to comment on OCs.
I hate "content" culture.
I hate "consuming content" and scrolling immediately to the next thing.
People used to be excited about the art that other people created.
People used to want to share that excitement with creators.
I hate this future.
Once someone tagged art that I made with "woah" and I think about it at least once a week. Someone else said "oh neat" once. Someone else WROTE A WHOLE DAMN POEM IN THE COMMENTS. Anyways even just one word can change how someone sees their art. You don't even have to think about it too hard. You could put a keyboard smash and I'd probably cry from joy.
I'm also trying hard to interact more, I understand that it's hard to break away from opening your phone and being in Content Consumption Mode.

Up until the moment you’re sat in the entertainment room that’s apparently been renovated on emergency notice, you don’t quite believe the situation you’ve found yourself in.
It started as an off-handed comment you didn’t think much of. Frankly, you didn’t think anything of it—the two of you were watching a movie (ok, Magic Mike, it was Magic Mike) and you mentioned, casual as ever, that you’ve always wanted to see a lap dance up close.
Rafayel went still. But Rafayel goes still at the strangest things—he once froze up at the sight of you petting a cat on the sidewalk and fell to the ground right next to the fire hydrant, in broad view of everyone walking down that very pavement—so again, you didn’t think much of it. Maybe he wanted to see a lap dance up close as well. Maybe, irrationally, he got a little jealous at the thought of you thinking of watching other men grind against flushed women, eyes bright as they watch the sheen of sweat on thick muscles centimetres away from their face.
You didn’t expect this. You didn’t expect—

“I could’ve sworn–” he mumbles, long eyelashes fluttering shut as he nuzzles into the curve of your palm. His lips are parted, two soft crescents pressing against your skin. He exhales, a rough, pained sound—you lean forward, trying to catch his gaze.
His eyes don’t seem bloodshot. His pupils are dilated, but not severely enough that you suspect he’s been drugged. Then he takes in another long, straggling breath with the tip of his nose skimming up the sensitive inner length of your wrist, and you start wondering if perhaps he is high after all.
“Could’ve sworn I’ve smelled this before,” Rafayel murmurs to himself. It’s as if you’re nothing more than a lifeless doll with what appears to be a devastatingly enticing scent. He fits the jut of your wrist bone between his lips—you flush, wondering if he can taste the desperate quickening of your heart rate or if that’s just all in your head—and he practically sags into your palm.
Hii!! I really love your artwork so much (the way you draw Rafayel is so cute) and I recently came across your Yoo's Kitchen story game. It was such a cute game and I got some writing ideas from it, so I was wondering if it was okay if I made a fanfic based off of it? I'll give credit and link the game on my post (and include any other credentials you prefer) It's completely fine by me if you're not comfortable with it, I understand :) I just wanted to make sure just in case.
I hope you have a lovely day and remember to take care of yourself :D Keep up the good work!!
