I’ m back!!!

Sorry about the unplanned/unannounced (semi-)hiatus I’ve ben on as of late. There are a number of reasons for it; some personal, some muse-related (and the fact I have too many), some computer-related. Most of them have been resolved now and I’ll be working on getting my blogs back on track!

Fathers and Sons

It was another typical day at Melinda's shop, "Same As It Never Was Antiques". There hadn't been many customers for a while, so after taking inventory of the back room, she had set to work fixing up the front.

Her son Aiden helped her a bit when he wasn't playing. While they worked, Melinda noticed how the boy kept looking out the window. Following his gaze, she saw a man in a dusty suit sitting on a bench outside the shop. She had seen the man around Grandview a few times in the last week; he was new to town, never seemed talk to anyone and walked with a cane to help with his bad leg.

More importantly, she (and no doubt Aiden, given where the boy's attention seemed to be more) saw the two people with this man, though he seemed to take no notice of them. One, a man who didn't appear much older than him and holding a deck of cards; the other, a boy who looked to be about fourteen or fifteen years old. These two weren't wearing modern clothes, as Aiden pointed out to her. This was nothing new to her, she had helped spirits who had remained earthbound for centuries cross over.

The boy turned to them. Aiden smiled and waved at him. The boy waved back, seeming a bit surprised that they could see him.

Blog revamp

Hi! Sorry for my absence but the muse is finally back!

I'll be working on a bit of a revamp for the blog this week but the askbox is always open for questions or if you want to plot or anything!

I BELIEVE!

A few months ago, I got the idea for a Once Upon a Time version of “I Believe” from Book of Mormon. I’ve had to put it off for a while due to school (and writer’s block), so I only have very little so far.

I BELIEVE that there’s a town in Maine full of fairytale characters

I BELIEVE that all magic comes with a price

And I BELIEVE that Josh Dallas can help someone move on from Justin Bieber

I am a Oncer…and a Oncer just believes!

I BELIEVE that True Love can conquer anything

I BELIEVE that evil isn’t born, it’s made

And I BELIEVE that stealing a chipped cup can be hazardous to one’s health

I am a Oncer…and (Dearie, dearie, dear!) a Oncer just believes!

There’s a lot more to the song, I’d really appreciate any ideas or suggestions you might have.

Eventually, if/when the song is finished, I’d love to somehow send it to Adam, Eddy, the cast and crew. I think this could be a great “thank you” for them for giving us OUAT (partly since the power of belief is one of the show’s biggest lessons, as proven by Henry).

Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!

Dead but not gone|| Open

A blue shining orb wandered the halls of the library. Slowly roaming in the darkness. It was Belle, so this is what happens when people aren’t ready to go… Was this it? Was she left to wander alone in the world? Could people see her? Could she turn to look like she did before? She needed to find the light, but how?

Melinda was roaming the aisles in the library when she was the orb--a ghost. Being new to town, she didn't know who the earthbound spirit was, what it needed to do to cross over. But she would do what she could, as usual.

"I can help you..." she said gently.

She nodded. “I’ve been able to since I was a little kid. Sometimes, when people die, their spirits don’t leave. They stay earthbound for all kinds of reasons—unfinished business, messages they have to get across… I can see, them, talk to them. I help them…”

As she explained, he listened while looking around the pawnshop, as if to try to see the said spirit. “And you can see 'Sir Gaston's spirit?” he asked, mimicking the way the man had once foolishly introduced himself to the Dark One before meeting his death.

"And now you wish to help him…how brave of you” he sarcastically told her, turning back to her. “Then you can help him by telling him that watching his betrothed cut off the part of him which held his brain was the most entertaining thing I had seen in a century” he told her, glancing at the rose.

The ghost appeared next to her and glared at the pawnbroker. "I need to talk to Belle, not him. I need her to know what happened to me. I heard what she said about me that day. I don't mean to cause trouble."

She nodded. "He's here. He can hear you... He says he doesn't want trouble but he wants to talk to Belle."

Melinda took a deep breath.

"Earthbound spirits.. Gaston’s spirit is here, that’s how I knew."

"Are you serious?" he asked, lowering his cane slightly in disbelief. "You talk to the dead? That is not possible”

She nodded. "I've been able to since I was a little kid. Sometimes, when people die, their spirits don't leave. They stay earthbound for all kinds of reasons--unfinished business, messages they have to get across... I can see, them, talk to them. I help them..."
