Shrugging lightly, Eliza commented. “Some of the neigbours can get a bit loud sometimes, but all-in-all I’m really happy to have found this place.” Lifting up her key again, the girl put the key in the lock as they reached her door. Turning the key, she pushed the door open. “After you.” She spoke softly.

JESSE NODDED AS A SIGN OF HIS ATTENTION, only when she told him to enter first, he shot her a warm smile and walked inside her place, expecting something tidy and calm.❞

Closing the door behind her, Eliza nodded lightly. “It’s nice here. I quite like it.” She commented before walking up the stairs. “I’m on the second floor, which isn’t too many stairs, luckily.” She smiled as she looked back to see if he was still following.

JESSE LOOKED AROUND THE BUILDING AS HE LISTENED, nodding softly. “yeah--i can see why. it’s so--peaceful.” he mumbled, only to look back at her, smiling. following her instructions, the boy rapidly made it to the second floor, waiting for eliza to open up her place.❞

Nodding lightly, Eliza sent a smile his way before digging in her bag to search for her keys. By the time she had found them, the pair was standing in front of the building she was living in. “This is it.” She spoke, as she opened the door and held it open so he could enter before her.

LOOKING AT THE BUILDING, jesse popped out his lower lip a bit as he nodded softly, looking all the way up. “seems pretty nice, if you ask me.” he said, only to return his gaze back to her and smile, before entering the place.❞

Nodding lightly, Eliza smiled his way. “Well… I suppose I could do that.” She commented before looking ahead again. “It’s just on the next corner.”

“ALRIGHT THEN, MARVELOUS.”, jesse said, smiling excitedly as they came closer to her home.❞

“Well I only know a few…” The girl stammered as she remembered how one of her father’s friends would teach her and her sister magic tricks. “I know a lot more card tricks than I know magic tricks.”

"A FEW IS BETTER THAN NOTHING.”, jesse replied, smiling at her. “you know--you can teach me both.”.❞

“Well now you’re thinking of magic tricks, I don’t know any… well no, I do know a few, actually.” The girl spoke as she thought of some of the things her father taught her. “My main ‘tricks’ are the things that card dealers tend to do at card games, well that and more…”

OPENING HIS EYES WIDE, jesse halted, his jaw dropping. “you know magic tricks ??”he asked, happily. “okay--forget the card tricks. teach me the magic tricks.”.❞

The girl couldn’t help the laugh that escaped her lips when she heard his comment. Smiling back at him she spoke, “Something cool? And what is it that you define as cool?”

RAISING HIS SHOULDERS, jesse tried to keep as serious as possible. “i don’t know--flying cards or disappearing cards or something.” he joked.❞

Biting her lip, Eliza tried to hold back the guilt she felt, hoping she didn’t insult him or anything for shrugging his arm off. It was just something that she could never feel entirely comfortable with since –, especially not with people she didn’t really know all that well yet. Especially those of the male variety. Smiling lightly at him, the blonde decided to change the subject. “So is there anything specific you want to learn?” She asked, refering to the card tricks.

HER QUESTION GOT HIS ATTENTION, making a smile appear on his face as he entirely forgot about the incident. “something COOL.” the boy replied, wiggling his eyebrows as he smirked.❞

Shrugging lightly before stepping out of his hold, Eliza smiled lightly, trying to come across as if everything was okay. Crossing her arms over her chest, she focused on her nails as they kept walking. “Thank you for believing that.” She commented, not really wanting to continue on with the current topic.

WHEN ELIZA GOT FROM UNDERNEATH HIS ARM, jesse shrugged, letting his arm fall next to his body again. “no need to thank me.” he replied, smiling at her.❞

Taken by surprise as he wrapped his arm around her, Eliza coudn’t help but tense up a little. It wasn’t until she started saying a mantra in her head, that she slowly starting to ease up again. Giving him a little smile, Eliza nodded lightly. “I know, I just… didn’t catch that fast enough.” She spoke as her cheeks heated up. She gasped at his comment before nodding a little. “I know, I’ve heard people say that to me many times, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true…”

UNAWARE OF HER TENSING UP, jesse grinned as he kept his eyes fixed on the pavement. “it’s okay.” he said, smiling down at the girl. “but it is true.” he then said, assured of his opinion.❞

“I’m not disappointed.” Eliza spoke defensively before realising that he was joking. “Oh,” she breathed out, feeling slightly embarrased about her reaction. “I suppose I just think everyone that gets along with people easily must do more than I do.”

NOTICING HER REACTION, jesse smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. “it’s okay, dear, i was only kidding.” he assured her shooting her a warm smile. “oh, i’m sure you do a great deal of things, eliza. one of those things being the act of being too hard on yourself.”.❞

“No, not at all. Well… I mean- kind of, I suppose. I guess I just figured you were very social, and hung out with a lot of people and just went out a lot in general.” She answered honestly, focusing her eyes on single loose thread on her sleeve.

“WELL--I AM SORRY TO DISAPPOINT.”, jesse replied, smirking. “but you’re right, i guess i’ve just been a bit caught up with assignments and all lately.”.❞

“Bored?” The girl asked out loud before even realising doing so. Turning her face away, she nodded lightly. “Likewise, I suppose. I tend to just focus on my assignments and such.”

LAUGHING SOFTLY, jesse nodded, sighing. “yeah--so hard to believe ?” he asked, winking at her. “me too.”.❞ 

As she adjusted the bag on her shoulder, Eliza started walking in the direction of her apartment. Making sure that he was still there, Eliza turned to Jesse as she kept moving forward. “So how have you been since I saw you last?” The girl asked, wanting to keep a conversation going.

AFTER DIGGING HIS HANDS INTO HIS POCKETS, jesse looked up at the sky. “good; calm, i guess. a bit bored, even. how about you?” he then returned the question, smiling down at the blonde.❞

“Oh,” the girl started, as she stood up slowly. “Right now?” She added, a slight confused look on her face before she quickly pushed her laptop away in her bag. “Okay then, off we go.”

GRABBING HIS COAT FROM THE CHAIR, jesse smiled. “right now.” he replied, only to follow her out.❞

“Why I am terribly sorry to disappoint you, but I must have left it as I was rushing my way here to get my laptop fixed..” She laughed, as she shrugged lightly. “I do have one back at my place, but that’s not here, now is it?”

SMIRKING, jesse nodded. “off to your place then.” he said, standing up.❞
