okay i'm gonna craft some wars 3 throne of forzen

metroidvania where you play as a xenovolcanologist who is determined to kick life back into the molten core of a slowly dying planet, after the technology used to make the planet habitable to humans have also exhausted the planet's core, causing plate tectonics to slowly cease, and the planet's magnetic field to fade. although the space colonists have come up with solutions like artificial atmospheric engineering and artificial magnetic field generators to maintain a semblance of habitability on that planet, the fact of the matter is that the planet was dying because of human interference, so the xenovolcanologist is going to destroy the generators humans have been using and reignite the planet's molten core

of course, in doing this, it's causing the planet's plate tectonics to violently jolt back to life, leading to widespread and violent earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and other natural disasters that are ravaging the already decaying colonies spread across the planet. this is leading to widespread hostility towards the xenovolcanologist, despite her intentions of creating a long-term solution to rendering the planet habitable again without the need of short-term solutions using artificial conditioning that's just going to further exacerbate the problem

i like it when fictional characters have a flawed or incorrect understanding of the way their universe works. i like it even more when that flawed or incorrect understanding is also the most grounded and reasonable understanding that exists in that world
