I found a VHS tape at the junk store, labeled just “A Surprise!”. Since I’d recently set up my VCR and old 80s TV, I thought I should check it out.
Just… just watch.
It's a glorious night to live on the internet. I feel like I'm sitting at the edge of a crumbling world. Good.

Classic Nazi punches in cinema:
- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
- American History X
- Hellboy
- Inglourious Basterds
- Captain America: The First Avenger
Bonus: Daffy Duck meets Hitler-
I feel like this deserves more notes so signal boost.
And another bonus:
Now that we’ve moved into the animated realm-
And another for luck:
You know, @drawingwithdinosaurs I think this just might be your masterpiece :)
You know that last movie is about how we glorify violence and it’s extreme hypocritical to find the beating and battering of even the nazi’s to be something that is welcomed and championed?
Did you actually watch the movie?
Yes, I actually put it on after posting this and am watching it now, having seen it countless times, studied it in film school, and discussed it in great depth with the man who literally wrote the book on it.
I do not consider Inglourious Basterds to be a film about how we glorify violence, though this is one of Tarantino’s focuses in many other works. I would posit that Tarantino himself enjoys screen violence at a visceral level and made this film in part to depict violence against Nazis for his own pleasure. I do not think it is in any way hypocritical then to enjoy seeing Nazis beaten and battered while appreciating this film.
Furthermore, there is nothing in the original post nor its responses in this thread on my part that suggests making light of or championing the beating of Nazis. Though I do fully approve of legal wartime Nazi beating, violent self-defense that leads to Nazi beating, and science fiction oriented stories that result in Nazi beating, none of that sentiment appears in my posts above which merely depict the acts without significant comment. You merely assumed it.
Finally, if you think that posting a picture of Daffy Duck bopping hitler on the head with a mallet means I’m a hypocrite for using an Inglourious Basterds picture, I frankly have little concern for your accusations or rhetorical questions.
