PERÚ NEEDS YOUR HELP

Hey guys. My name is Lori. I am from Peru and, sadly my country is having a really hard time right now. It’s the hottest summer we’ve had in decades and rain pours like never before and rivers have been rising and it’s causing flooding and mudslides in rural and urban areas of Peru, especially in the north area of the country. Thousands of houses, animals and people have been affected by this natural disasters. Our infrastructure is not prepared for this kind of weather. The saddest part, this is mostly affecting the poorest people. In the places a little more far away from the rivers, we haven’t had water for days and in some places no electricity as well, and even supermarkets have ran out of bottled water. Highways are flooded too and it’s difficult to transfer from one place to another. Clases have been also cancelled. Please, if you could donate even $1 to help people out it would mean the world. The whole country is on state of emergency right now. Here’s an organization where you can donate.

“They say to respect your elders but what happens when your elders never gave you an ounce of respect in return?” A scuff of her foot on the ground and a twist of a frown marred the girl’s face. “If someone doesn’t respect you or your feelings, then they never deserved your respect in the first place.”

“Mother says that I should respect my elders, but only if they are within hearing distance.” Alicandra quiped. “An’ if it’s the Summer Court, I get to shoot magic or arrows at ‘em.”

“Hehe, I think you have more self preservation than me then.” Sophie smiled at the girl, “My temper often gets the better of me.”

“Yeah, Mother’s the same way- violence first, questions later.” Allie chuckled.

“Yeah. I might’ve gotten worse since being taught by her.” Sophie teasingly said, giggling. “But she’s really good at what she does. I hope I can be just a skilled and great as her.”

“Me too…” Pulling on the white streak in her hair, Aliie frowned. “I wouldn’t say you’ve gotten worse- maybe a bit more mouthy by mortal terms… but you seem so strong.”

A bitter smile pulled on her lips as Sophie looked away and contemplated for a moment on what to say.

Strong.

She never really related the word together with herself. Yes, she wasn’t as weak and powerless as before, but she didn’t feel like that word could be used to describe her yet.

“….what about me do you find strong, Allie?” Sophie looked back at the red head, curious green eyes glinting with genuine curiosity over the girl’s answer.

“Well, lots of things; you’ve been able to gain the trust of Shadows, you’re great at hand-to-hand fighting but never throw a punch without a good reason, Mother’s even said you can do spells that she’s seen tire other Mortals with twice as much training… All kinds of things.” She smiled.

A small smile quirked at the answer and she felt a flutter of a tiny measure of pride came. It was one thing to think she wasn’t weak, another to be told by someone she was strong and some of the reasons why.

It made her feel nice.

“I…thanks.”

“You’re welcome.” Allie smiled as she leaned back. “I want to be as strong as you someday.”

Sophie was quiet but there was an air of...happiness? Thankfulness? Whatever it was, it had her smiling and nodding, still not believing in her own strength, but wishing now to be as strong as Ally sees her as.

I should clarify that The Scream was the first one I saw
