eulogy
tumblr was one of those places that seemed like a (mostly) safe space for us.
it’s been there through 3 long term relationships for me, some heart break, some love, some hate, and but mostly it’s been a place where i’ve connected to people like me the most. i grew up playing in punk bands, but there were hardly ever any other queer people that i knew in bands, or queer people i knew who liked the same music i did or the other weird stuff that i did.
ive made countless friendships on here, i’ve met SO MANY amazing people in person off this site - ate delicious food, partied, had adventures, saw cool shows, crashed at their house, hosted them at mine, and i even met a really awesome guy on here who moved to kentucky to be with me and we’re buying a house together (that’s the first time i’ve said that out loud on the internet - if theres one place i can be honest, it’s here). i have tons of memories relating to a lot of people on here, the ones i’ve remained friends with, those we’ve lost, and those we’ve continued to connect with over years of just meeting each other on some blog site.
it’s wild how this place was so formative for many of us. the inside jokes, the memes, the serious posts, the solidarity, the love, the laughter, the birthday nudes, tumblarity (remember that?), and the place to really feel like you belonged.
i haven’t really used this site much the last couple of years because i have increasingly less time to read through and scroll and keep up to date with everything, i keep most of my original content elsewhere.
if you’d like to be friends there, here’s some links below. lets hang out.
if we’ve never met, lets make plans to.
