I’m sorry, but I cannot support being ‘kin’ with a character. You can relate to a character, there’s nothing wrong with that! But believing that you are a fictional character is an illness.

So if someone asks me to call them by the name of a fictional character I will have to say no. This is not the same as using the right name or pronoun for a transitioning person. This is perpetuating an illness that has the potential to become a disorder.

It is fine to make a nick-name of it, but to say you need to be called that name because that is who you really are is not acceptable.

I could very well ask to be called Mei Tachibana, since we both were bullied a lot in school and never dated during that time. I am not kin with her, because she is a manga character and I am a living person. End of story.
