HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY TO US! Since October 2012 we've gone from being an idea to releasing 3 issues, organizing 3 Shred Fest's around the country, mailing magazines to Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and all over the USA and Europe, moving into our first office at ADX Portland, and look forward to many years of representing women guitarists and bassists. We couldn't continue on without your support- THANK YOU! On behalf of our birthday month, we'll be giving out our brand new three postcard package along with two She Shreds stickers with any and all purchases made in the month of October from our store.

Again, thank you for supporting us. We love you!

Last week, we got the chance to explore MusicFestNW, Portland's five-day citywide music festival. We were were excited to see a bunch of amazing shredders including Thao and The Get Down Stay Down, Deep Sea Diver, La Luz, The Thermals, Team Dresch, and White Lung. Eighteen out of the 172 bands playing MFNW included women guitarists and/or bassists. While that number might seem low (because it is!) it's way better than Coachella's record this year: 4 out of 175.

She Shreds Headquarters Update

Great things have been happening at She Shreds, so we thought we'd take a second to share all the good news!

In May, we moved into our first office at the fantastic ADX community workspace in southeast Portland. Make sure to check out the awesome blog post they wrote about us moving in.

Fabi at our new office in southeast Portland.

Additionally, we were stoked to find out that the awesome folks at Bitch Magazine wrote She Shreds up in their latest issue. Check it out:

We've also launched national distribution of the second issue, with friends in major cities lending us a hand in getting She Shreds into local businesses across the country. You can now find us in NYC, Washington D.C., and Seattle--and soon in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Atlanta, Austin and San Francisco. If you want to help bring She Shreds to your town, hit us up at sheshredsmag@gmail.com!

Now that our second release party has come and gone, national distribution's underway, the limited edition baller caps have gone on sale (almost sold out!), and we've moved into our new office, it's officially time to get into Issue #3 crunch mode. Get excited! Issue 3 will be even bigger than our second issue, with new kinds of content we've never done before, like a certain undisclosed shredder's self-directed photo essay from being on tour and an in-depth exploration of the awesomeness that is surf guitar, not to mention exclusive interviews with some of our longtime shredder heroes and new guitarists who are making waves.

Want to get involved? We're always looking for new writers and visual artists, but we'd also love to hear about what you want to see in the magazine. Also, we'd love it if you helped us spread the word about our current search for a volunteer creative director. We're looking for someone with experience in visually translating abstract concepts and working with artists to bring that vision into reality. Desired skills include Photoshop, InDesign, a solid eye for print layout, and the usual high work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Oh! And you've gotta live in Portland. Any of that sound good to you? Email us at sheshredsmag@gmail.com.

Have a great week!

-The She Shreds team
