The Disgruntled Tomato Sandwich.

@tommysandwich / tommysandwich.tumblr.com

Just a grumpy pony in college dealing with life and school. No big deal. Oh, yeah, and the younger brother of a party pony. I'm sure you've heard of him. Ask box is open. Banner by Carranzis.

Hey hope you are doing good. I'll wait for the day till we get more from this ask blog uwu

((Thanks. Still alive, just busy with a bunch of real-life stuff (like work, school, and guinea pigs) and dipping into other fandoms. I do hope to get myself to draw something for this blog, especially since I recently got Clip Studio Paint and want to draw ponies in it at some point.))

Hey, is this askblog still active?

((Well...

I know I haven’t been the most diligent in updating as of late. Real-life obligations have higher priority, and I’ll admit that I’ve been drawing for other fandoms and even my own original ideas as of late. I do still have sketches for some Tommy answers, but I haven’t gotten around to cleaning them up for posting.

Sorry about that. <:( ))

And thus, Cucumber Melon learned her lesson, and when Wildflower and Boxthorn came along, she didn’t try her caffeine experiment again.

The twins did it themselves and discovered that Wildflower does go bonkers, while Boxthorn only goes a little extra mad scientist.

((This was drawn way before the MLP finale, that’s why Curly Kale’s the baby.

Well, having a job, as well as another show I want to draw fanart for, made me neglect this blog a little bit. Awfully sorry about that, and I decided that during this quarantine, I can play catch up a little bit. Since full-on coloring the sketches takes a while (which honestly leads to a bit of procrastination tbh), I figured that scanning the doodles on my scrap paper and cleaning them up a little would be easier on me.))

((And now, a bunch of stupid doodles in which a young Cheese Sandwich stars in A Christmas Story. I had this idea last year, and I made sure to get some funny scenes done before Christmas this year!

Yes, Tommy is pulling double duty as Ralphie’s bro and his friend. Cheese had no friends as a kid in Manehattan, remember? Plus, getting his tongue stuck on a frozen pole is exactly the kind of stupid situation young Tommy would get into.

This is clearly an AU where their parents are not wet blankets, just roll with it.))

At last, I have updated the CheesePie and Flormato family pictures, just in time for Thanksgiving! Our two leading stallions are certainly thankful to have the best wives they could ask for, and a bunch of awesome kids.

Roster is as follows:

Cheese and Pinkie

~Pizza Pockets

~Fudge Fondue

~Rocky Road

~Berry Blast

~Cheesecake Chase (“C.C”)

~Sugar Surprise

~Cheese Slice

~Cream Cheese

Tomato and Flora

~Bell Pepper

~Cucumber Melon

~Forest March

~Marigold

~Ketchup

~Curly Kale

~Wildflower

~Boxthorn

If their mom was there, you know she’d ask why they both have so many kids.

Anyway, Cheese does have a different middle-aged design than in the show, because giving him a few gray hairs and bags under his eyes is lazy--I have him wear his glasses, a different outfit, and while it’s not obvious at first, his hair’s thinner and he’s gonna go bald as he ages. Sorry, Cheese, you’re not as lucky as your voice actor (or your brother, he gonna keep his hair ‘til the day he dies, haha).

No visible gray hair for anyone, but, eh, you know that will come later.

Anyway, have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Family tree update!

Okay, so I’ve added the “Li’l Cheese Twins” and the Flormato twins to the family tree. I also changed the Maudbriar daughter’s name because I found out about wood opals and felt stupid for not using “Wood Opal” as a name, and decided that since I didn’t use her much anyway, nobody would care that I changed it.

((Okay, I have cooled down, and thought about what I want to do.

First off... I can’t see the canon kid as anything other than a girl, and if I have to rely on a stupid twitter conversation for something that should have been obvious on the show itself... yeah, I’m not buying it, and sticking with what I saw on screen. Still, seeing people getting fussy over it, I’m just throwing my hands up and going, “WHY DON’T WE HAVE BOTH?!”

(Poor Cheese and Pinkie, getting hit with a double whammy of the twin curse)

I think I might have read somewhere that the kid was supposed to have a pink coat and yellow hair, but I’m not sure, I’m doubtful of my own memory sometimes... still, I had to create a little boy out of that, with a few little touches of my own.

Anyway, they’re both Li’l Cheese--we have the boy, Cheese Slice (also called “Slice” by friends), and the girl, Cream Cheese (called “Creamsie” by friends). I guess their parents had trouble coming up with alliterative names like they had done for these twins’ older siblings.

So... shall I get to updating the CheesePie family portrait?))

((Okay, so my original plan for this year was that the appropriate number of CheesePie kids were going to be the Fearsome Five to play along with their Dad’s Darkhorse, with the spares being Gosalyn (or Sporty Spirit for a ponified name) and... something else (Boneless insert-number-here was to be Launchpad, Pinkie was Morgana (hey, she wanted to try something spooky for once), and I don’t know about Gummy).

But, then the nonsense with Li’l Cheese happened that made me hesitant to touch the kid again, and I marathoned Darkwing Duck to cool down, which obviously killed a lot of my spare time. Not to mention I was having trouble casting Bushroot and Liquidator (Berry was gonna be Quackerjack (or whatever you call the horse version) and Sugar was gonna be Megavolt; if you have ideas for the other two and good reasons for why, let me know).

But, regardless, I ain’t gonna have you guys miss out on Pizza Pockets dressed up as Negaduck (or Negahorse, I guess), because between Pizza’s heavy resemblance to Cheese, his status as the eldest and thus the ‘leader’, and his usual taste for the edgier Nightmare Night costumes, I couldn’t not draw this perfection.))
