i’ve just had it confirmed by my room mate that there is in fact purge activity currently ongoing in the louisville, kentucky area, we’ve been listening to a live police scanner and have confirmed there have been incidents of knives being pulled on people, gun shots, disappearances and attacks on business establishments. please stay in your homes if you are within the vicinity, call relatives and friends and advise the same. it would be wise to arm yourselves, self defense may become imperative!!! please be safe, this is horrifying but happening!

[ i t doesn’t sting like it might for some people, not being mentioned when they are in a relationship. roman knows what kind of work they are both in and what they have to keep from each other. and suddenly, he feels a little nervous about sharing information about their relationship when she hasn’t heard anything about him. ]

[ Her head tilts just slightly, catching the lie easily given the circumstances. But she smiles almost genuinely--with a touch of enthusiasm for good measure--all the same, playing the same pleasantries game he is and hoping to be bit more convincing. She wants to get all the information she can on him, and since Josephine's not talking... ]
Oh, good for her. For the two of you really, but I was starting to worry about her never getting out there. She just so dedicated to her work, you know?
[ Her eyes narrow in thought as she sizes him up, trying to peg him to an occupation. And more importantly, to a mutation. ]

I can't say she's mentioned you, sorry.
[ This little fact makes her oddly nervous--she's used to knowing a little bit about pretty much everyone Josephine routinely associates with. Whether because Josephine tells her, because they have mutual friends, or because Luz likes to stick her nose where it doesn't belong.
The latter is what she plans to do now, for sure. ]
Lovely to meet you though. I hope she hasn't said anything bad about me. Are you two--?
[ It's not creepy that she, a grown--invisible--woman, is following this young man around all day. It's really not. And even if it is, she's got good intentions.
But creepy or not, she's glad she's doing it because she sees someone she recognizes, someone who'd thrown his prejudice in Oliver's face earlier. She stops in her tracks, eyes trained on the man, waiting to see if he notices Oliver. And he does, clearly, as he steps forward to follow.
She can't know for sure if Oliver knows he's following as the man is staying a fair distance behind them both, and she doesn't know how to alert him without alerting him to her own presence.
So she takes action as soon as it's just the three of them on the quiet street, stopping and waiting for the ill-intended man to get within arm's reach. The takedown is smooth, almost fluid, though far from inaudible as the man had struggled when her hand had clamped over his mouth.
Breathing a little labored with the aftereffects of adrenaline and exertion, Luz backtracks down the street a bit, morbidly curious to see Oliver's reaction. ]

[ Josephine is accustomed to being on the receiving end of a look like this from Luz. It isn’t so much a matter of what she’s done as much as it is what she’s done now. She doesn’t think much of it until the moment Luz speaks, and then, her shoulders tighten, bunched tension coiling like a spring. ]
When I decided it was any of your fucking business.
[ She doesn’t stoop so low as to refuse to acknowledge Luz’s name, but she comes close. The disdain that drips from her voice is palpable enough; her lip curls with it.
Her relationship with Roman is hers, something that she has kept from them with good reason. For this very reason, she realizes. Immediately, she’s defensive, fingers curled tight into her palms. ]
And don’t call him that. Though I guess it is typical of you, isn’t it?
Typical of me? Are you-- Jesus Christ.
[ She almost feels like she's drowning, like there's a wall of water pressing down hard on her chest and lungs. This is too much; this isn't what should be happening. Josephine is with the Brotherhood, and to Luz's understanding, Brotherhood members do not date sapes. If anything, they use them and move on.

Do I need to remind you of what we all just went through? What Elliot especially just went through? Do you forgive and forget that easily?
[ She hasn't been handling herself well in the weeks since they'd gotten Elliot back, but now even the threads she'd been clinging to have begun to unravel. A chill spreads from her fingers and toes, rushing toward her heart, and she shivers with it, legitimately panicking now, much to her distain. ]
What does he know? Does he know who you are? He knew my name, Josephine. What have you told him?
[ The look Luz gives Josephine the moment they're alone is nothing short of severe. Whatever ground they'd gained in their tentative friendship is long gone, eroded away by anger, disgust, disappointment, and f e a r. ]
So Ruin. When were you going to share the fact that you're dating a fucking sape with the class?
