So excited to read this but holding off on it for now cos I'm not really in the mood for fantasy and at the same time I'm intimidated by how long the book is haha

Q: did you enjoy the last book you read?
This is the last book I finished and I really enjoyed it! I didn't figure out too early what happened which was great and I loved the dual perspective of past and present!

One of my all-time favourite authors, I don't even read synopsis of V E Schwab's books before buying them 😄
Who do you autobuy?
Can't wait to read this book 😁 I absolutely loved the caraval series so I have high expectations for this!
I love spending time in a cafe with a book and coffee on my day off 😍
Q: what's your favourite thing to drink when you're reading?
Love a shelf of fantasy books 😁
What fantasy world would you live in if you could?
I think I'd want to live in Red London from shades of magic 😄

I finally got around to reading this beast of a book!
I thought I would’ve read it sooner because I obviously adore The Bone Season and Samantha Shannon! But this book was so big and complex I was intimidated by it! But I did really enjoy it! My favourite is still the Bone Season but this was wonderful too! Although I did have some issues with it, it was still a solid 4 star read.
I actually ended up reading the ebook because this was waaay too heavy and really hurt my arms aha. Reading it on my kindle was so much easier!
Fantasy is one of my fave genres as you can tell from my bookshelves 😄
Although I’m not much in a fantasy mood at the minute, I don’t have the concentration or motivation for it lately because it requires more focus than other genres because of learning new worlds and magic systems and whatnot aha, but I’m hoping I can get back into fantasy soon because I have so many amazing Fantasy books on my TBR!
Thank you to Bloomsbury UK for sending me a finished copy of this gorgeous book!
I read the ARC and absolutely loved it! And the finished cover is absolutely gorgeous! I could look at it all day.
Synopsis:
Maddie loves spending summers at her uncle's Inn at Havenfall. But the Inn is much more than a Maddie's safe haven, and life in Havenfall isn't without its secrets. Beneath the beautiful, sprawling manor in Colorado lie hidden gateways to other worlds, some long-sealed by ancient magic. When a body is found on the grounds, the volatile peace brokered between these worlds is irrevocably compromised. What's worse is that Maddie's friend Brekken stands accused of the murder. With everything she loves at stake, Maddie must confront shocking truths about the dangers lurking beneath Havenfall – and discover who she really is.
My Thoughts:
The world building in this was something I especially loved. It wasn’t too rushed and gave enough information while still retaining mystery. You learn most about Havenfall and a little about the other worlds. I can’t wait to learn more about the other worlds, which I assume will come in the following book/books
I love how complex it all is with the different worlds and cultures, magic and traditions all built around this safe haven.
I really adored the characters, especially Maddie and Taya and their relationship and dynamic. I can’t wait to see how they develop.
Although some plot twists were a little predictable, they were still done so well that I was still shocked when they happened, even though i’d predicted them!
I cannot wait for the next book. It’ll be a long wait because I read this in around November, but it’ll be worth the wait!
Out on the 3rd March!
Feeling pretty crappy lately because life sucks, but I actually dressed up and put some makeup on and went out and had a nice time on Friday ✌🏼
I read this one a while ago and I enjoyed it a lot! it was so different to a lot of things I read and was really interesting! I’m not sure what genre this would me classed as, maybe a mystery/thriller?
