【★ RELEASE】 OUT NOW: Maladaptive Strategies Vol. 2

Very happy to announce that I've just released Vol. 2 of the Maladapative Strategies release series, a series which seeks to round up all of the Bit Shifter project's old non-album tracks that have accumulated over the years.

This volume focuses specifically on tracks made with the nanoloop Game Boy musicmaking software, and it's genuinely some of my favorite material out of everything I've ever done. Mutant techno for your abstract dancefloor, plus two pop covers 'cause I have no self control in that department.

Engineer extraordinaire Trey Frye mixed four songs and mastered the whole thing; the peerless Andi Soto provided the gorgeous release artwork, continuing the theme started in Vol. 1.

Bandcamp edition includes bonus tracks, video collaborations with noteNdo and flight404 / Robert Hodgin, and a fancy 16-page liner notes .pdf booklet.

Newly unearthed footage of the Halloween '08 @pulsewavenyc show where I did a set as The Misfits (on a lineup with glomag as Joy Division, @nullsleep as Depeche Mode, & @anamanaguchi as Weezer). Quite possibly the most fun I've ever had in a live show. Thank you to @2playerproductions for both organizing, and documenting.

I was actually really sick the day of this show, I woke up that morning so hoarse I could barely make a sound. I drank soothing tea all day in a panic and then just went for broke when showtime came around. Thankfully it held out for the whole set.

The set is full of goofs, fuckups, forgotten lyrics, missed cues, and a lot of bum notes — but it was still an absolute blast.

It's ten tracks in 20 minutes, programmed as two five-song .lsdsng slots on a single cartridge / .sav file. I did A LOT of pattern sharing across songs to optimize things.
