I first became fascinated with it a few years ago when I noticed it out an airplane window on a flight from Texas to Southern California. In an expanse of endless desert, suddenly, a vast body of water. When I got home, I immediately looked it up on a map. The Salton Sea.

It’s the largest landlocked body of water in California. It sits right on top of the San Andreas Fault at over 200 feet below sea level. It is more than twice as salty as the Pacific Ocean. It is completely toxic. And I had never heard of it before then.

New Red shirts

At my job, we were given new red t-shirts. A couple of my courtesy clerks were joking about how I wouldn’t wear one cuz “Ben always the blue manager shirts! Like a Crip! He probably bleeds blue” I heard this and instinctively said “I do bleed blue, blue and yellow , foo! SLAVA UKRAINE!!” The 4 employees around me just stared at me for a few seconds and my closer Jacob says” oh that’s right, your last name is Ukrainian!” Thank you for remembering dude. Fun night.

And I find out today that this girl passed away early May of this year. The reason why I found this out? I texted her a few days back and still hadn’t heard anything. i understand some people are bad about returning messages but I had to the deed and google her. Services were held May 16th. No cause of death listed in the obituary. She didn’t even make it to her 40th birthday. And I find this info roughly about 5-6 minutes before I usually take off from home for a closing shift. Crap. RIP Laura
