“                    and I’m not really sure… I mean, this is the first time Katara and Sokka have been home since…. well, since they found me in that iceberg…” Wow. That was a long time ago. “Plus their dad’s here, and it’s the first time they’ve all been together in the south pole since     I’m not even sure, since before he left to fight in the war…        But if you’re bored    we could try exploring around the village                    –Hey! Maybe we’ll find that iceberg I was in!!”

        ❛ Yeah... I mean, you have a POINT. ❜ It doesn’t loosen the tight cross of his arms. This is a good thing for everyone else --- something he needs to keep in mind. He should be happy for all them. He SHOULD but his pessimism & personal experience set them at a difficult schism. He huffs out a breath, creating another cloud from a RED NOSE.  

 ❛Wouldn’t that be something.❜ he mumbles, gritting his chattering teeth. Shrugging, he begins to move forward,   ❛I need to move. Let’s go find your iceberg. Funny, isn’t it? I spent years trying to find it -- find you --- and here I am, with you,  finding an empty iceberg. The irony is amazing...❜

Okay but instead of shipping the grumpy one with the cinnamon roll, imagine shipping two grumpy ones. Just being salty about fucking everything together all the time. Having the same salty philosophy on life and snickering at other people’s idiocy 24/7.

She deadpans, staring at him like he’s an idiot– a common glance, though not one meant to offend. “My aunt would have your head for saying that– like tea snobs, plants prefer sugar in their water. They’d shrivel up and die if I gave them salt water.” Seems she learned a few things working in the shop after all, even if tea making wasn’t one of them.

        ❛ OH ! ❜  he stops what he’s doing to look at her with a wide expression, ❛Well, uh, that’s good to know. Uh, sorry.❜ Fumbling momentarily, he sucks in a deep breath and continues. You almost killed her plants, Zuko.  ( Better make some good tea. )

“A day in the life of the Fire Lord– never mind that, you’re here now. In one piece, no less.”

        ❛ You are? Figured you would be disappointed. I --uh -- it’s glad to see you, too. In one peace. ❜ There’s a try for a smile as he approaches her, fingers rubbing the back of his neck.

“WOW, you really hate the cold, don’t you?”

        ❛ NO , AANG,  I LOVE it out of here. I love being completely out of my element. Can’t you tell?  Look...I’m glad your  having fun... but how long are we staying out here, exactly?❜

“Hmph, I’m sure it tastes just fine,” she replies, lifting the cup to her lips. Oh, was that a mistake. Perhaps he wasn’t being dramatic– this time.

“Yeah, I’ll just set this over here. You’re welcome to the rest of it,” she continued, moving from her seat to take his– but being sure to whisper in his ear along the way.

              “Tea snob.”

        ❛ I’m not a tea snob !  You put SALT in the tea.  Making it revolting doesn’t make me a snob,  it means I have taste buds. ❜ He wanders over to the pot, adding,  ❛ I sound like uncle Iroh...❜ under his breath. Flustered &  growing a bit red in the face, he begins doing his old job all over again. He glances over at the tea she set aside,  ❛Um... thanks but no thanks. How about we give it to the plants once it cools down? ❜

“You can’t blame me, I’ve never had to make tea for myself.                                                     Besides, you’re a total tea snob.”

        ❛ I am NOT a TEA SNOB  !  You put salt in the       ❜

        ❛ You know what -- forget it.  Just forget it...                 I appreciate you TRYING . ❜  even if you almost poisoned me. 

How did uncle iroh put up with me? Did I put salt in the tea before?   ---- ??? Did I?
