hey tumblr.
does anyone still use this thing?
I don't understand why someone who does not have sex dysphoria, could still wish to transition and be called other pronouns. I understand being gender non-conforming, but shouldn't there be a difference between that and trans? I feel transphobic for even thinking that but I legit really do not understand. I'm not against any of these people for acting as who they really are, but it just feels like maybe a different issue? I feel like a lot of these people are causing us to not be taken seriously
Yeah, I completely agree. I feel like a lot of these people base their gender off of gender roles or what they feel like wearing that day. I don’t think there’s a way to really “feel” a gender. If you have gender dysphoria, you’re trans. I get a lot of hate for this.
You act like it tbh
Yeah, you sound like a professional.
Are you autistic?
uhhh..no?
I stopped by a group for LGBT, mostly trans and non-binary, and I discovered for the first time that some people actually have a problem with me using “guys” to address multiple people. My entire 25 years of life. I’ve called everyone “guys”, including groups of females and no one has ever had a problem with it. Like yes, I get it, you’re special, but I fucking hate when people pretend to be offended by everything. This is why so many cis people don’t take us seriously.

Man, “The Patriarchy” has sure fallen on some hard times, huh?
THIS IS PATHETIC. A bogus attempt to use statistics with no sources to deny that there is in fact a patriarchy in the US. Selective service, Military Deaths, Males having a longer work week? Are you kidding me?
As if having a longer work week is a negative thing, making more money on the dollar isn’t enough?
This is ambiguously illogical. Fuck
Yeah, it doesn’t matter that these statistics have been proven time and time again, or something. Selective service? Yeah, no big deal. Being forced to die for country when you don’t want to isn’t THAT bad, men. The pay gap has been proven false, and working longer hours is more stressful. By that logic everyone should have about three jobs, since more hours are better, right? Men have it just as bad as women do in the US, just in different ways. I can’t stand this “ma oppreshun” shit anymore.
hey sorry but what makes you think that about mark, i didnt know that
Can we get a link to mark cummings coming back to supporting trans people? I tried to google it but I can't find it.
Well I guess I should call her Maritza and use female pronouns, now. She’s turned on radfems now and supports her wife (who is a trans woman). It’s really funny how pissed off their radical feminist friends are. https://www.facebook.com/markangelo.cummings?fref=ts
just an update
Mark Cummings is back to being okay with trans people and he’s on our side again. Jesus Christ, how can you flip flop back and forth like that to such extreme levels?
Please be patient with those who have anxiety
They say sorry a lot because they’re genuinely afraid they’ve insulted you somehow
They ask if they’re annoying because they genuinely think they’ve somehow annoyed you
They say things are ‘awkward’ because they can be uncomfortable in any situation, no matter who with, they don’t mean to personally hurt you
They cry because sometimes people and situations are too much, not because they’re looking for attention
They don’t text you a lot because they’re clingy, it’s because if you don’t reply, they think they’ve done something wrong
They can be set off by little things, so don’t say they’re overreacting when they panic
Please be patient with those who have anxiety
They only mean the best

Idk I am white and grew up like this
Many of this is true for me
This is literally the American (as far as I know) human experience. every single thing there I’ve known, either through experience or everybody in my circle of friends and such had, and that was a pretty damn diverse group.
Dunno why people think whites don’t do any of these things. Oh wait I know.
We all know all white people are rich.
International Men’s Day
So apparently today is “international men’s day”, and a lot of people are talking about men’s mental health. Clearly suicide rates in young men are a massive problem BUT please bear in mind that mental health issues are not a solely male problem. 29% of women have been treated for a mental health problem, compared to 17% of men. 1 in 4 women suffer from symptoms of depression compared to 1 in 10 men, although the study I got this from does admit that depression in men is under diagnosed BUT it is thought that some biological factors make women more prone to depression compared to men. Women are twice as likely to have an anxiety diagnosed compared to men and 60% of OCD sufferers are women. 9 in 10 people with eating disorders are women. Also, although men are more likely to die from suicide attempts, the level of suicidal thoughts in women is actually higher. The main difference comes in that men are much more likely to be successful in committing suicide than women- partly because they are more likely to have access to firearms. Many women who attempt suicide attempt to overdose and are therefore more likely to be found in time to save their lives.
Let’s be clear, mental health issues are not a “men’s issue”, they are an ableism issue, due to the stigma surrounding mental health issues and the lack of funding for mental health services in the NHS. In this country, self harm and suicide are massive problems, but painting them as something that affects only men is silly and divisive. Yes, the perception of masculinity may be harmful to some men and contribute to their mental health problems and prevent them from seeking help BUT the perception of femininity also contributes to mental health issues in women, and some causes may just be due to gender biology.
Stepping over misinformation for just a sec. Are you really trying to take something set aside to talk about issues men face, yes suicide, but also awareness of things like Prostate and Testicular cancers, and try to redirect it to women?
I mean…
is the thing here.. right?
Women are more likely to get diagnosed, as men generally attempt to ignore or handle their problems on their own because of a lifetime experience of being told to stfu about their problems because women have it worse. I mean you are even doing it here. A day to support men is somehow sad because it’s not about women, who have it worse.
It’s about letting men know there is support, and providing it. I wonder what would happen to your un-cited statistics if men actually got help and a diagnosis rather than just killing themselves off?
Misinformation ahoy. the study oft cited for the whole women attempt suicide more than men commit it is a piss poor source if you read it. They count all acts of self harm, not just suicide attempts, that come into the hospital. So little “Janey I cut to feel something but oh god I’d never want to die” gets lumped in with “Janet I’m eating 12 bottles of sleeping pills to end it all” and equal. They aren’t. On top of that, it glosses over women who survive, getting multiple attempts, which also inflates the numbers.
But lets assume you’re right. Tell me the number of men who have to kill themselves before it’s equal to one woman attempting to kill herself. How many men’s lives equal one one failed attempt? Please get back to me on this, I’d like to know how many men have to die before we can focus on helping them instead of making it about women instead? How many have to die? How many?
You are trying to frame mental health as an “ableist issue” But here’s the rub, there isn’t much stigma around women seeking mental health services, it’s considered normal. Men however, unless affluent, generally don’t access these services. They are told their issues aren’t important compared to women. By people like you, in posts like this, so their problems go without diagnosis, which perpetuates a cycle of only women getting diagnosed, leading to your bullshit.
Men are told by society that they’re weak if they show emotion or even care about their health and well-being a little bit. Especially over a woman’s.
Tumblr feminists love to make fun of men for the whole “BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MENZ” thing, but they do the same god damn thing. Men can’t even have a single day.
I just came back here to say that Dirt wrote an entire post about Cathy Brennan and her hatred for her. This is so funny I can’t handle it.
