why is religious Christmas imagery all so joyful and pleasant? where is the inherent horror of the birth of Christ? A mother is handed her newborn child, wailing and innocent. Her hands come away sticky. Red. Simply by giving her son life she has already killed him. He is doomed from the beginning. Her love will not save him from suffering. Because the thing cradled in her arms is not a baby, it is a sacrifice: born amongst the other bleating animals whose blood will one day be spilled in the name of what demands it. the night is silent with anticipation. Discworld update: Moist von Lipwig is my son now

#discworld#turns out I just like when an Ankh-Morpork story is SILLY or at least when the protagonist is a big doofus#(also helps that he's not a copper even tho I adore the city watch series)#also? it's been said before but moist HUNGERS for femdom by his goth wife. extremely good shit#and vetinari is DELIGHTFUL in the moist books he's finally found a proper dirtbag theater kid to mentor. I'm so happy for him#and the dogs!!!! and the golems!!!!!! and the MAYHEM!!!!!!!!!#moist series may end up being my favorite tbh#with The Truth and Monstrous Regiment being my favorite standalones#still have more to read but the moist books are a fuckin blast you guys

Continuing my descent into Discworld madness and I gotta drop an unpopular opinion

Night Watch is a tad overrated

#Discworld#like it's GOOD but ppl talk about it like it's the one of the very best and it's not even the best Watch book imo???#Fifth Elephant was superior#and I do enjoy Vimes but I think he's best when he's bouncing off the rest of the ragtag bunch of dorks#also I read this one just after The Truth which was an INSTANT fave so granted I am biased#like how am I supposed to enjoy anything without Otto Chriek now. it's not possible#gonna be walking down the street listening to music and be like “where is my boy”#this is now an otto post sorry friends

like the one that was either a sequel or overhyped and then turned out to be trash?? mine was bioshock infinite

#honestly? it was an atla game I don't even remember the name of#one of those cheap media tie in games and it was barely playable. I could only play like a few minutes I think#it was my first time experiencing a piece of media with that level of branding and that lack of effort younger me was SHOCKED#I'd really been expecting something like the fma games for the ps2 which I loved

Discworld update I have now finished Fifth Elephant and god damn it terry you've done it again. I have been bamboozled, set up, seized and shaken like a bottle of separated ketchup only to be gently placed back on the shelf with a kiss upon my forehead. I love women and dwarfs and dwarf women. What a great book.

So I've been reading Discworld and I need I to post my brainrot somewhere

Random thoughts:

  • I was told somewhere that Night Watch is where Nobby gets good. This is a lie. He was already my favorite little gender gremlin about halfway through Jingo and now he's wearing dresses and leading a strike in Fifth Elephant?? WHERE is all the Nobby Nobbs content out there
  • No seriously where is it. I can't search without being spoiled :(
  • Vetinari is also my beloved ❤️♥️ at least there's plenty of Content for him
  • Overall really enjoying the City Watch series and the Witches books but Monstrous Regiment may still be my favorite out of what I've read so far. Love those little lads and Jack Jackrum, one of the characters of all time ❤️
  • OH AND DEATH. MY SWEET SKELETON BOY
  • Anyway that Terry Pratchett, huh? He was pretty good at making weird little books with weird little guys
