One thing that I personally found pretty damaging growing up in my culture in the Western world was watching boys, from the SAME religion and cultural background as me drink, have sex, come home late etc I would see how easily they move on from a white girl to another and show next to no attention to girls from their own culture describing them difficult or too much to handle. But what was most damaging were parent’s justification of it all. I was told to stay pure, untouched, a virgin because “oh don’t worry they won’t marry girls like these” or “men will get tired of fooling around one day and they will want to choose someone like you” ?? as if this is all a game and my so called purity was some sort of a prize to be won in the end of it all. I will no longer tolerate this twisted misogynistic concept so long story short if you want a humble bride, teach your son to be humble first.
