Matt found himself in the church again, albiet under much better circumstances. This time he'd come to pray in hopes that it would clear his mind before a huge bust he had planned that night. He tapped his way in, settled on a pew toward the back, then leaned forward on his elbows. His lips parted, but no words came.

Always fucking rooftops.
He was watching the building on the other side of the street below, crouched low behind the parapet. This wasn’t an attack. This was reconnaisance. He wondered if Red would be surprised that The Punisher was a planner.
Why was it always fucking rooftops they met on?
“Ya just gonna sit up there, Red?”
“Oh-! There’s my cue,” Matt teased before leaping down to the gravel. He smirked as he rose to his feet. That palpable irritation was worth whatever happened next.
-- Which was.. what exactly? He noticed Frank didn’t have his usual setup and had his attentions trained on the street below. Watching. Waiting. Matt suddenly had the urge to be in the know.
“Who are you waiting on here? It’s obviously not me.”

Perched behind him, on a subtle high ground consisting of a ventilation unit that’s seen better days-- Matt liked to believe that he’d approached unnoticed. Even if that was never the case. His belt dragged faintly on the steel on his way up, and his heavy breaths caught in his throat as he considered how he was going to chastise Frank, as usual. While he waited to get called out, he silently hoped to God that maybe this time, just maybe, he wouldn’t have to.
