If there's one thing I will never understand it's Lord of the Rings fans wanting to be an elf in Middle Earth. I mean, sure they're graceful and pretty but they live too damn long and having to witness an eternity of stupidity from the species around them. Like, imagine being Elrond and basically witnessing a cringe compilation of the human race. Nope. No thanks.

I've been witnessing a cringe compilation of the human race my whole life. Elrond is not special.

Richard Roxburgh and Kate Beckinsale in Van Helsing (2004)

The best part about this scene wasn’t just that Dracula didn’t have a reflection. She was at a ball with a few hundred other people attending it, and during this dance, there were dozens of other couples also dancing alongside Anna and Dracula. The scene showed that everyone at that ball was a vampire, not just Dracula. And she was the single only human there. It’s so subtly threatening to be surrounded by bloodthirsty killers all dressed to the nines, masked and pretty. And it was such an ingenious way of telling that part of the story, I adore this movie so much.

I am Smaug! I kill when I wish! I am strong, strong, strong! My armor is like tenfold shields! My teeth are like swords! My claws, spears! The shock of my tail, a thunderbolt! My wings, a hurricane! And my breath… death! Well? Where are your riddles now?

‘Rivendell’ said Frodo. ‘Very good: I will go east, and I will make for Rivendell…’ He spoke lightly, but his heart was moved suddenly with a desire to see the house of Elrond Halfelven, and breathe the air of that deep valley where many of the Fair Folk still dwelt in peace.

PHILIPPA BOYENS: I heard him sing the Scottish national anthem at Elijah’s thanksgiving party in Queenstown, and I thought wow that’s a good voice, but then when I heard him doing “Delilah,” I thought wow this guy can really sing.
BILLY BOYD: Pete asked me if I could write something. And I said, yeah, well, you know I’ll have a go. And they gave what they wanted the words to be, which is a poem from The Fellowship.
JOHN NOBLE: He came on the set that day and no one had heard it. And then he opened his mouth, and this glorious thing came out.
BILLY BOYD: And we got to record that at Abbey Road Studios in London. That was just a huge highlight, huge highlight of my career.
