War Meeting

“Right now you are my main concern.” He told her squeezing her hand. “Everything else can wait I’m putting you first.”

“I am sure your fellow Asgardians really appreciate that.” She mumbled squeezing his hand back. “They need their Prince. I am not going anywhere.”

“Father is well, the realms have quieted, I think they can live without me for a bit.” He said softly.

Jace sighed softly but didn’t argue further. She really wanted to be held but the elf didn’t know how to ask that politely, besides.. Even if she was monopolizing Thor’s time it wasn’t fair to ask. “I still feel exhausted.” It was a mutter.

Thor nodded, “I know. Do you want me to go, stay here?” He asked rubbing her hand.

“Stay?” She asked timidly, though it seemed Thor wanted to stay anyway, since her attempts at getting him to leave didn’t work.

Thor nodded rubbing her hand gently placing it to his cheek. “I’ll stay as long as you need me to.”

Jace gently stroked his cheek as her consciousness started to slow to her actually sleeping.

Thor remained there, leaning against the bed she was resting on, falling asleep himself. He gave her hand a gentle squeeze each time he woke.

After a few hours Jace squeezed his hand back, showing she was awake again. 'Sleep well?' She questioned.

Clara hadn't returned still.

“Scared? Oh no. I am quite past that. I am terrified… What if removing it…kills me? It really only saved itself…” Jace struggled to keep her voice even.

Thor nodded kissing her hand. “I know, we’ve all had that fear, that this would not end well with you.” He said softly. 

Jace would be clinging to him if she could. “I…want you to know if it d-does…that I think you s-should be with Clara.. If she makes y-you happy..” She felt like all she was doing was bringing more strife into his life.

Thor squeezed her hand. “Darling please don’t think like that-we have to be positive.”

Tears gently rolled down Jace’s face. “N-needed you to k-know.” She was utterly terrified and even now could feel the Aether coursing through her body, changing her. “Even if it’s o-out not g-going to be the same.”

Thor squeezed her hand. “Hey I’m not giving up on you, not at all.” He said kissing her hand. “I’m stubborn fool, or so I’ve been told.” He said with a forced chuckle.

"But I do not want you to worry. You should not have too." She said with a sigh. I am certain you have plenty of other things to worry about."

Jace lightly curled her fingers over his. “I just don’t know what to do in this situation…I am not very stable at all with the Aether in me…” She had another worry too, what would happen if they removed half of it…? Or…all of it? Would she die?

Thor nodded, “I know, I think we’re all scared, scared of what may or may not happen.” He said softly kissing her hand. “But we’ll do the best that we can.”

Jace lightly curled her fingers over his. "I just don't know what to do in this situation...I am not very stable at all with the Aether in me..." She had another worry too, what would happen if they removed half of it...? Or...all of it? Would she die?

“No, it’s okay, it’s really put us all in a difficult situation.” He said softly. “I don’t feel I’m being fair to you, or your sister. I feel like an ass.” He added.

“You are not an ass, though you do have a nice one.” She attempts to lighten the mood. “Asses do not smell good and they are stubborn.”

Thor chuckled, “I’ve missed you, so much Jace, and I feel bad for Clara. She’s not something to replace you, I shouldn’t have slept with her.” He added rubbing his face.

“Definitely not.” She agreed. “But she also made a choice.” Jace sighed. “My sister and I have been in this situation before… It did not go well for the man.”

Thor nodded, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to cause a problem between you two, or to stir up old wounds.”

“I know. I’m sorry I didn’t stay so you could tel me good bye that morning.” She says as a way of changing the topic, they can’t really get anywhere on it without her being awake.

Thor nodded, “I regretted that, that I never got to kiss you goodbye, tell you how much I was going to miss you.” He said softly. “I didn’t think I’d ever get the chance to tell you how heart broken I felt to see you had left.”

Jace sighed quietly. “I am so so sorry for that.” She wished she could reach out and squeeze his hand. She felt so bad about that she hadn’t meant to hurt him. “I apologize for my hast that morning, Thor. I had not meant to hurt you.”

Thor nodded, “I know, I understand-it would have been so hard to let go. It was easier on us both.” He said softly reaching out to touch her arm. “I’m not angry, I understand why you did, honestly I don’t know if I wouldn’t have done the same.”

Jace smiled very faintly. "I am glad that you are not mad.. Though I still wish I could take it back..."
