You pull the straps over your shoulders, the satin sheet cool around your figure. The frigid night ekes in through the window as you move through the dark. Your ears are pricked for the measured breaths keeping tempo. He’s asleep. You’re not free, but you can catch your breath.
Now this is interesting. His immediate concern is NOT the expensive liquor. It's not the upturned furniture. Not the wine stained hardwood floor. Those stains won't come out with scrubbing, that's for sure, unless it's already darkly stained wood. Or very well waxed/shellacked. Actually I don't know.
My wood floors are so old and worn out by this point, I don't remember 20 years ago when they had been redone when we bought the house. It's unfortunate that when the previous owners had redone the original floors, we were warned that it was probably the last time they could be redone. I guess you can only redo wood floors so many times? It's actually quite discouraging to think these floors have lasted 98 years, and we're the ones to ruin them. Sigh. The house was built in 1926, and I broke it.
Oh, that Scotch stain on the wall will be nasty too!!! That drywall will have to be replaced. Walls outside of the bathroom are usually a matt paint - not stainproof, for sure. And the bottle definitely left a dent in the wall.
Oh, but my point is - his immediate attention focuses on her feet.
This is interesting. Very interesting.
