Maud Angelica Behn, the oldest granddaughter of King Harald and Queen Sonja, is following in her parents’ footsteps by writing a book.

Threads of Tears (Tråder av tårer), written and illustrated by Maud with help from publisher and editor Arve Juritzen, is a children’s book reflecting on grief and loss. Maud drew on her own experience with grief following her father’s unexpected suicide in December 2019, and Juritzen has described the book as a continuation of Maud’s touching eulogy at her father’s funeral in January 2020.

Threads of Tears is set to be published in late October.

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary hosted a private family dinner at Amalienborg as a surprise for Queen Margrethe to celebrate her golden jubilee.

The dinnerware used is the priceless original set of Flora Danica made for Catherine the Great, but kept in Denmark when she died before it was completed. It consisted of 1,800 parts originally. 1,500 parts still exist & are exhibited at Rosenborg Castle & on the walls in the room “Rosen” in Christian VII’s Palace. The last time it was used was for Queen Ingrid’s 80th birthday in 1990.

For three years I was lucky to be a private history teacher for Crown Princess Victoria. I was at an event at the Royal Palace, when Victoria came to me and asked if I could teach her about history. She reminded that it was hard for her to read books (due to her dyslexia), but she would listen gladly. We sat in a small salon at the Palace… I told our story from the beginning, and ended the last year with all the rulers, their childhood, education, marriages and difficulties. Victoria was extremely interested. She made a lot of notes and next time she would ask questions about something she wanted to know more about. The lessons should have lasted an hour, but usually became much longer because we would discuss the present, the media, trips she was doing. My teaching ended when she came to Paris. There I guided her in Napoleon and Empress Joséphine’s Château de Malmaison, outside of Paris. An hour was set aside for the visit. She stayed for over two… I will never forget how excited she was at this first meeting with her ancestor Empress Joséphine.
